As part of our growing Engineering family, we are looking for a Multi Skilled Engineer to provide building fabric maintenance and repair.  The role sits within our client six site cluster in Preston, Lancashire with travel to Chorley and Manchester.

You will be responsible for delivering a building fabric service such as minor plumbing, fire door repairs, painting and decorating, and patch repairs.  Ideally you will have worked in the building services sector, or similar, with basic plumbing skills as you will be carrying out fabric repairs.  You should be physically fit as the role does involve some manual handling, working at heights and in confined spaces.  

You will keep the clients updated with any developments, recording all activities, remedial works, inspection logs etc and ensure a high level of customer service and will need good verbal and written communication and comfortable working with IT to record your tasks and updates.

The ideal candidate would have a background in facilities management, a trade scheme or served experience. 

Job Objectives

  • Delivery of varying fabric repairs and hosting of sub-contractors. This role will also include the multi trade requirement for the completion of reactive helpdesk tickets and the assistance in the completion of project related tasks and other ADHOC facilities requests.
  • Have the ability to manage conflicting priorities in a complex working environment.

Main Duties

  • Repairs and maintenance to building fabric
  • Minor repair and maintenance of tiling, walls and ceiling
  • Remedial minor building works following PPM activities completed by other service lines
  • Fire Door inspections and repairs
  • Painting and decorating projects (as and when required)
  • Basic plumbing repairs
  • Stock management of site consumables
  • Relocation or removal of furniture
  • Inducting & managing subcontractors
  • Flexibility to work out of hours and at weekends

Person Specification

  • Qualified to a C&G or NVQ in a fabric trade.
  • Valid driving licence
  • Previous experience of working as a fabric technician
  • Strong customer service experience
  • Ability to be proactive and identify opportunities
  • Experience of PDA or IPAD technology for reporting and completion of jobs is essential, as this forms part of the process to complete and sign off each job.
