CENTRAL GOVERNMENT & DEFENCE

Mitie’s Central Government and Defence (CG&D) division is the partner of choice to our nation's Government and Defence sectors. We support the government to make a difference and help keep our country safe at home and overseas.

Our two main sectors see us operating in critical and secure environments, supporting around 4,400 locations globally.

We Serve. We build. We Protect. We deliver the exceptional, every day.

Central Government sector

Since 2016, we’ve been working with nine central government departments providing services in engineering, cleaning, catering, driver services, security, reception, mail and reprographics, grounds maintenance, portering and projects. Our strength is our ability to understand the complexities and context of our clients’ requirements and to identify, design and implement solutions in partnership with them.

Defence sector

Our Defence credentials are unparalleled. We support the DIO's Future Defense Infrastucture Services (FDIS) programme providing grounds, reactive and scheduled maintenance for sites across Scotland and Northern Ireland, from the borders to the Shetland Islands, covering 4,400 buildings in over 91 sites. The services include maintenance to ensure a wide range of assets are working safely and efficiently, from ground lights on airfields to critical fuel supplies, through to overseeing the safe storage of munitions and conducting hydrographic surveys to ensure sea ways are clear. For almost two decades, we’ve provided hard, soft and specialist services to the national training estate with 1,400 employees working across 550,000 acres – that’s 1% of the UK land mass. We’ve supported the UK Armed Forces in the Falkland Islands, Ascension Islands, Gibraltar, Cyprus with 600 employees and 1,000 full-time subcontractors. Serving four airfields, a Naval base and various barracks, we operate and maintain power generation stations, provide water and specialist fuel systems and provide support to aircraft and warships. We design and construct new Defence facilities ranging from accommodation, runways, dockyards, aviation fuel systems, water reservoirs and many more specialised buildings.
