Job Title: Cleaning and Environmental Support

Location: White rose shopping centre

Job Type: Full-Time 42.5hrs

RATE £ 14.50 + Discretionary performance related bonus scheme.

Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Cleaning and Environmental support manager to join our team. This hands-on role involves leading a team of cleaning staff  & team leaders to ensure high standards of cleanliness and environmental care across our facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cleaning services, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining a safe, healthy, and sustainable environment.

  • Key Responsibilities

  • Hands-On Cleaning: Participate in cleaning tasks as needed, setting an example for the team and ensuring high standards are consistently achieved.
  • Support Manager: motivate a team of cleaning staff, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure efficient and effective performance.
  • Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections to ensure cleaning standards are met and maintained. Address any issues promptly and implement corrective actions.
  • Scheduling: Develop and manage cleaning schedules to ensure all areas are covered and tasks are completed in a timely manner.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor and manage cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels and proper maintenance.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, conducting risk assessments and implementing safety protocols.
  • Sustainability Practices: Implement and promote sustainable cleaning practices, including the use of eco-friendly products and waste reduction strategies.
  • Waste Reduction Initiatives: Develop and oversee waste reduction initiatives, such as recycling programs, composting, and minimizing single-use plastics. Educate and engage the team in these practices to ensure effective implementation.
  • Winter Strategy: Develop and implement a winter strategy for managing site gritting and snow removal. Ensure pathways, entrances, and critical areas are safe and accessible during winter months. Coordinate with the team to execute gritting and snow removal tasks efficiently.
  • Communication: Liaise with other departments and stakeholders to coordinate cleaning activities and address any specific requirements or concerns.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a cleaning or environmental services role, with at least 2 years in a support manager role position.
  • Strong knowledge of cleaning techniques, products, and equipment.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and environmental care.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to cleaning and environmental services.
  • Understanding of and commitment to sustainable practices in cleaning and environmental management.
  • Experience with waste reduction initiatives and programs.
  • Experience in developing and managing winter strategies, including gritting and snow removal.
  • IOSHH OR ABOVE.
