Job Description

We are currently seeking a Working Site Supervisor with a strong background in painting and general building maintenance to join out growing team. This is a hands-on role, ideally suited to someone with experience running social housing sites, who is confident managing both people and projects on the ground.

Key Responsibilities:

The role involves supervising and working alongside site operatives to ensure the delivery of high-quality painting and maintenance works. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day site operations, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time and according to programme requirements. Acting as the primary point of contact for tenant liaison, they will maintain clear communication to minimize disruption. A strong focus on health and safety compliance is essential, including maintaining site files and producing Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS). Additional responsibilities include conducting regular stock checks on materials and equipment, keeping accurate records, and managing subcontractors to ensure their performance meets required standards. The role also involves working closely with clients to maintain high levels of KPI satisfaction and overseeing the sign-off process for completed works.

Operations:

The role involves ensuring that all works are carried out within the approved budget, with a focus on cost-effectiveness and efficiency. It is essential to ensure that all painting and building materials are used optimally, kept clean, and reused where practical to minimize unnecessary wastage. The successful candidate must respond promptly to verbal, written, and reactive tasks, demonstrating reliability and responsiveness. All painting and general building works must be completed to a high standard, maintaining the quality expected of the role. The position also requires providing support and input into projects as needed, contributing to overall project success. Additionally, it is important to promptly notify the line manager of any complaints or discrepancies to ensure swift resolution and maintain service quality.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in painting and general building maintenance, demonstrating a strong background in practical, hands-on work. Previous experience managing teams on social housing projects is preferred, as it provides valuable insight into the specific challenges and expectations of this sector. Excellent organisational and time management skills are essential to ensure efficient project delivery and adherence to schedules. The role also requires strong communication skills, enabling effective interaction with tenants, clients, and team members. Competency in handling site paperwork and ensuring compliance—such as completing Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and maintaining site files—is necessary. Additionally, the candidate must have the ability to work to performance Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and consistently deliver high satisfaction scores.

 Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in painting and general building maintenance, with previous experience managing teams on social housing projects being preferred. They must possess excellent organisational and time management skills, along with strong communication abilities to effectively engage with tenants, clients, and team members. Competency in site paperwork and compliance, including Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS), and maintaining site files, is essential. The ability to work towards performance KPIs and consistently deliver high satisfaction scores is also required. Candidates must hold a recognised qualification or have a minimum of two years of checkable experience in the field. They should be well-organised, capable of meeting deadlines, self-motivated, and a strong team player. A good understanding of relevant legislation and compliance issues is necessary, along with solid knowledge of all aspects of Health and Safety. The candidate must be a good motivator, display a “Can Do” attitude, and portray a consistently positive approach. Strong customer service skills are essential, and the candidate must be capable of performing all duties associated with the role of a painter/decorator.

Health and Safety responsibilities

The candidate is expected to follow all Group and company policies and procedures at all times to ensure a safe and compliant working environment. They must report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment promptly to help maintain operational safety standards. Proper use of all work equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) is essential and must be carried out in accordance with the training received. Additionally, any Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) issues must be reported either to the line manager or through the divisional incident reporting system.
