Wireman / Fitter – Substation Projects (NGED Region)

Job Type: Full-Time
Location: Various sites across the NGED region
Salary: Competitive + benefits + company van


Join Our Team

We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Wireman/Fitter to join our growing team, working across substations primarily within the NGED (National Grid Electricity Distribution) region.

In this role, you'll contribute to the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of key electrical infrastructure. If you have a strong background in electrical work and a passion for working on essential infrastructure projects, we'd love to hear from you.


Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out wiring, fitting, and earthing work on NGED substations

  • Follow all safety procedures, policies, and work instructions on-site

  • Undertake training to obtain PTW (Permit to Work) and LOA (Limitation of Access) authorisations

  • Maintain accurate documentation and work records

  • Collaborate with colleagues and contractors to ensure timely and safe project delivery


Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Wireman or Fitter, ideally in substations or similar environments

  • Strong knowledge of electrical wiring and earthing systems

  • Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and site conditions


Desirable Qualifications

  • City & Guilds 2360 or equivalent electrical qualification

  • SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme)

  • IPAF (Powered Access) Certification

  • Telehandler Operator Training

  • First Aid at Work Certification
