Role Purpose

The Regional Training Manager, SSC sits within the People function, reporting to the People Business Partner and working in close partnership with Training Managers, with a dotted-line relationship to SLT and SSC Leadership.

Based primarily in Gloucester, with regular travel to Northern Ireland, you will be responsible for ensuring our people have the right training, skills, confidence and capability to perform at their best.

You will be a key link between People, Training and Operations, ensuring training priorities support colleague experience, operational performance and the wider People strategy.


Key Responsibilities

Training & Capability

  • Lead and coordinate training across SSC.
  • Deliver engaging classroom, on-site, virtual and blended training.
  • Identify skills and capability gaps and put appropriate training solutions in place.
  • Support effective induction and onboarding for new colleagues.
  • Deliver Train the Trainer activity where required.
  • Support management, leadership and colleague capability programmes.
  • Ensure training remains relevant to operational and colleague needs.

Compliance & Standards

  • Maintain high completion levels for mandatory, regulatory and role-specific training.
  • Monitor training compliance and proactively address any gaps.
  • Maintain accurate training and competency records.
  • Coordinate specialist training and refresher requirements.
  • Support internal, client and external audits.
  • Ensure consistent training standards across Gloucester and Northern Ireland.

People & Operational Partnership

  • Work as part of the People function, partnering closely with the People Business Partner and Training Manager.
  • Build strong relationships with SLT, SSC Leadership and operational managers.
  • Understand current and future capability requirements across SSC.
  • Provide advice, insight and constructive challenge on training, capability and compliance.
  • Ensure training supports wider People, talent, succession and colleague development priorities.
  • Provide clear updates on training performance, risks, priorities and areas requiring action.

Leadership & Culture

  • Champion a strong training, capability and performance culture.
  • Coach and support managers to build capability within their teams.
  • Encourage colleagues to take ownership of their training and development.
  • Share best practice across Gloucester and Northern Ireland.
  • Role model Mitie's values and leadership behaviours.
  • Promote an inclusive environment where everyone has the opportunity to develop and succeed.

Key Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Strong training, facilitation, coaching and presentation skills.
  • Experience delivering training within an operational or multi-site environment.
  • Strong stakeholder and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to engage and influence colleagues at all levels.
  • Excellent planning, organisation and attention to detail.
  • Confidence using data and insight to identify training priorities.
  • Competent in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Valid UK driving licence.
  • Valid SIA licence, ideally Door Supervisor.
  • Flexibility to travel regularly to Northern Ireland.

Desirable

  • Recognised training qualification or willingness to work towards one.
  • Experience within security, large operational contracts or shared service environments.
  • Experience delivering management or leadership training.
  • Train the Trainer experience.

  • Compliance: Mandatory and operational training remains on track, with gaps quickly addressed.
  • Capability: Colleagues demonstrate improved skills, confidence and competence.
  • Performance: Training interventions positively contribute to operational KPIs, quality and service standards.
  • Consistency: Training standards and colleague experience are consistent across Gloucester and Northern Ireland.
  • Onboarding: New colleagues receive effective induction and are operationally ready within agreed timescales.
  • Assurance: Training records are accurate, maintained and support strong audit outcomes.
  • People: Training contributes to talent, succession, career development and internal progression.
  • Partnership: Strong relationships and positive feedback are maintained with the People Business Partner, SLT and SSC Leadership.
  • Improvement: Colleague and stakeholder feedback is used to continuously improve training.
  • Culture: Managers and colleagues take greater ownership of training, capability and performance.
