Job objectives and responsibilities

• Manage the availability of resources and materials for the operation, installation and maintenance of building engineering services, to achieve and sustain an optimum working environment, ensuring that both the requirements of the client and all contractual obligations are met. Manage x5 off Shift Supervisors and x10 off Shift Engineers in a Data Centre.

Main duties

• Provide support to the Operations Manager in the day-to-day management of personnel, systems and services, to maintain 100% availability of the client's critical facilities.
• Manage all direct reports and sub-contracted resources, as necessary, to deliver a quality service to the client.
• Manage all planned preventative and reactive maintenance to achieve completion of works within required timescales, ensuring that site security and procedures are not compromised and that all statutory requirements are met.
• Ensure accurate maintenance details and compliance certificates are made available for uploading to the relevant data collection system.
• Undertake client requested projects, from quotation to completion, ensuring tight budgetary control, quality works and statutory compliance.
• Continually review site operating and emergency procedures, and initiate improvements to minimise operational risk and speed recovery after incidents.
• Provide support and guidance on operational switching of LV & HV Supplies.
• Provide technical support to any project works.
• Provide technical guidance and expertise to the site team.
• Deputise for the Operations Manager, in his absence.

Person Specification

• • Qualified to a minimum HNC standard, or equivalent level, in an electrical or mechanical engineering discipline.
  • Five years minimum supervisory / management experience.
  • Experienced in electrical and mechanical engineering disciplines.
  • Experienced in HV & LV Switching Operations.
  • Wide experience in building and engineering services.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to plan, co-ordinate and manage work, under own control, demonstrating flexibility and maximising resources to achieve overall business objectives.
  • Conversant with relevant Health & Safety legislation, British Standards, Codes of Practice and Building Regulations.
