Job Overview:

To assist with the M&E Engineering team in carrying out technical and other practical tasks, covering a designated area but required to be peripatetic between several other work locations. To also take responsibility and ownership of completion of tasks in order to achieve contract KPIs. In addition, continually provide service excellence in line with MITIE core values

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Maintain Compliance & Records: Log statutory requirements, keep records updated, and generate reports for escalations.
  • Respond to Service Requests: Act as first-line responder, aiming for first-time fixes and safe isolations per guidelines.
  • Perform Maintenance Tasks: Conduct PPM, fault logging, and technical checks on plant equipment and systems.
  • Handle Electrical Work: Test appliances (PAT), replace lighting components, and test emergency systems like alarms and lighting.
  • Carry Out Minor Repairs: Fix leaks, unblock drains, adjust doors, and perform basic plumbing and carpentry tasks.
  • Support Building Operations: Assemble furniture, put up fixtures, and assist with office moves and porterage duties.
  • Manage Site Security: Hold master keys, prevent unauthorized access, and liaise with emergency services during incidents.
  • Ensure Health & Safety: Conduct risk assessments, enforce safety compliance, and coordinate evacuations.
  • Oversee Contractors & Deliveries: Verify contractor credentials, manage permits to work, and handle deliveries.
  • Maintain Grounds & Waste: Cut grass, clear snow/ice, remove litter, and promote recycling and proper waste disposal.

 

What were looking for:

  • Extensive experience within Facilities Management as a Caretaker, Maintenance/Engineer Assistant or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of PPM's, Remedial and Reactive Works.
  • A proven understanding of Health & Safety compliance.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and written.
  • Ability to liaise and negotiate to all levels within the business.
