Job Overview

  • The CNI Technical Services Director is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the strategic and operational delivery of technical services across multiple sites for Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) environments. This role ensures the seamless execution of our customers' National Control Rooms and supporting infrastructure, focusing on 365/24/7 operations. The Director will lead the CNI team, manage cross-site operations, and drive the implementation of innovative technical solutions to meet client expectations and contractual obligations as well as delivering the Corporate and ET PPM and Reactive requirements.

Main Duties

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement technical strategies aligned with organisational goals, ensuring robust and scalable infrastructure solutions for the CNI client across multiple sites.
  • Operational Oversight: Manage the end-to-end delivery of technical services, including the delivery of PPMs, remedials, reactives, quoted works and project work, ensuring compliance with service level agreements (SLAs) and KPIs.
  • Team Management: Lead and mentor diverse teams of engineers, technicians, and support staff across multiple locations, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and compliance with NG SFG20 regulations.  Support training programs for all authorised personnel, such as HV, LV, Confined Spaces, Mechanical, Petroleum etc..
  • Project Execution: Oversee the planning, scheduling, and execution of technical projects, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary liaison with clients, senior leadership, and external partners, ensuring clear communication of technical decisions, project progress, and issue resolution.
  • Service Reliability: Address service delivery challenges, such as those caused by resource constraints (e.g., high volumes of annual leave), by collaborating with scheduling and planning teams to optimise workforce allocation and minimise disruptions.
  • Compliance and Safety: Promote a culture of compliance with all applicable regulations and maintain safe, organised work environments across sites.  QHSE at the forefront of all activities.
  • Budget and Resource Management: Control budgets and resources for multi-site operations, optimising cost efficiency while maintaining high-quality service delivery.
  • Innovation and Technology: Stay proficient in emerging technologies, to ensure CNI services remain cutting-edge.
  • Issue Resolution: Manage and resolve high-level technical and client escalations, ensuring rapid and effective solutions to maintain client satisfaction.
  • Assurance:  Provide assurance upon the maintenance and operational performance of M&E systems within critical environments. Conduct regular audits and reviews to ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and industry standards.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks related to CNI infrastructure and system failures.
  •  Stakeholder Engagement:  Work closely with the CNI client, providing technical reports, updates, and assurance of service delivery.  Liaise with regulatory bodies and third-party contractors to ensure alignment with standards and requirements.

What we are looking for

  • Professionally registered Engineer with membership to a relevant engineering institution (e.g., IET, CIBSE).
  • Experience of having been appointed within the role of Senior Authorised Person, with demonstrable experience of operation within High/Low voltage systems and SSoW application
  • Experience working within Critical National Infrastructure environments, particularly in technical assurance roles.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant engineering standards, statutory compliance, and safety regulations.
  • Proven ability to support the delivery of complex technical projects within time, quality, and budget constraints.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with experience engaging stakeholders at all levels.Data Centre or Uptime institute knowledge/experience
  • Experience (Desirable):
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status (Desirable)
  • Experience of having been appointed within the role of Authorising Engineer
  • CDCMP Accreditation desirable
  • ILM level 7
