Senior Project Engineer

A resolute and experienced Senior Project Engineer will assist the wider Project Management Team across the project delivery portfolio. This role could see the individual spend time supporting multiple sites, a single larger project and the assigned Project Engineers / Junior Project Engineer as the delivery and client demand dictates. In all instances you will provide supervision and direction overseeing projects and supervising other direct employees and/or sub-contractors. Your responsibilities will include collating update schedules / reports, ordering supplies, scheduling works as needed, arranging labour and collating progression reports.

You should also be able to perform first aid in emergencies.

As a Senior Project Engineer, you will have knowledge of the codes of practice and construction safety regulations. An outstanding Senior Project Engineer should be able to interpret building plans as well as demonstrate exceptional leadership, mentoring, staff support, communication, and critical thinking skills.

To be successful you should be meticulous and knowledgeable of fire / life safety and/or security the associated standards / regulations. You should be able to interpret building plans as well as providing mentoring, leadership, team management, communication, and critical thinking skills.

  • Experience in similar role or significant previous experience and looking to step up to an even more senior role.
  • Sound knowledge of standards and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of construction sites, the tools and equipment.
  • The ability to interpret drawings.
  • Excellent Leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent organizational, mentoring, team support, and communication skills.
  • You will be conversant with various Fire and Life Safety and/or Security systems.
  • You will also have experience of multiple communications protocols from differing manufacturers.
  • A First Aid qualification would be a benefit but not essential, as this can form part of the development path.
  • Necessary actions to support the wider Team in delivering a successful project.
  • To agree site development plan with Line Manager and support associated training plan.

You must have ECS / SSSTS suitable to facilitate access to site.

The primary responsibilities for this role are:

 

  • Inspecting site(s) regularly to identify and eliminate potential safety hazards.
  • Supervising and managing Project Engineers / Junior Project Engineers.
  • Supervising and instructing subcontractors.
  • Delivery Toolbox Talks as required.
  • Ensuring Daily access plant inspections are undertaken as required and reported accordingly.
  • Ensure site diary is maintained, ensuring all parties sign in / out and daily activities are recorded.
  • Ensure an accurate record of employee / sub-contractor attendance is available.
  • Ensure changes / variations to the design / contracted works are suitably recorded.
  • Ensure all changes to drawings are recorded and submitted to provide traceability.
  • Evaluating the performance of sub-contractors and instituting disciplinary measures as needed.
  • Analysing drawings to ensure that projects meet design, safety, and budget specifications.
  • Recommending changes to project operations or procedures to increase efficiency.
  • Installing, configuring, and managing the commissioning of Fire, Life Safety and Security systems
  • Understanding of interconnectivity between various systems
  • Cable Testing and troubleshooting systems to the works are at an appropriate stage prior to commissioning commencing.
  • Providing training to end-users on how to use systems.
  • Assist in the Management of project schedules and budgets to meet project requirements.
  • Manage and monitor sub-contractors.
  • Practice and always comply with safety standards.
  • Reporting to a Project Manager / Senior Project Manager.
  • Mentor and assist team members with development, training etc.
  • Drive product roadmap and initiatives and participate in technical design.
  • Resolve systemic issues providing short, medium, and long-term solutions.
  • Provide design inputs and reviews of other projects.
  • Develop strategic plans to provide effective product development.
  • Provide support for scoping of work tasks and budgets.
  • Perform and maintain work to required standards and client expectations.
