Looking to move roles but not leaving the Mitie family?

Why not share your experience with others about life at Mitie?

Better places, thriving communities.

Overview

Some may call us biased—but we know there are few Internal Communications roles that offer the scale, variety, and purpose you'll find at Mitie. Here, you'll help shape the voice of a business that touches the lives of over 7.5 million people every day—making places safer, cleaner, more secure, and more sustainable.

We're proud to work with some of the world's most cherished brands, helping them create high-performing places where people and communities can thrive. From airports to high-street retailers, from hospitals to schools, we're the team behind the scenes making sure every environment performs at its best.

We're looking for someone who shares our passion for innovation and transformation to lead the communications for our £1.5bn Projects Division - a high-growth, strategically critical area comprising diverse businesses and capabilities including solar, grid, painting, and acquisition-led growth.

You'll be part of our in-house Communications Centre of Excellence, reporting to the Internal Communications Director, where you'll lead and deliver impactful internal communications across the division. From shaping strategic narratives to supporting transformation, engagement, and culture, you'll play a key role in connecting our colleagues to our purpose and priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic business partnering to the Managing Director of the Projects Division.
  • Act as a key trusted communications advisor and coach to the Projects Division Executive Leadership Team and SLT.
  • Lead internal communications strategy and execution for the Projects Division, aligned with the Group Internal Communications strategy and the Projects Business strategy.
  • Effectively collaborate with other Mitie teams on cross-functional campaigns including press, marketing and sales.
  • Translate divisional strategy into compelling communication plans that engage employees across diverse business units.
  • Develop and deliver integrated communication campaigns across digital, face-to-face, and leadership channels.
  • Evaluate communication effectiveness with a focus on outcomes and continuous improvement.
  • Champion a collaborative culture within the centralised internal communications team and across the Projects Division.
  • Provide strategic communications input into divisional business planning and transformation programmes.
  • Ensure alignment of divisional messaging with Group-wide themes and strategic priorities.
  • Take an active part and support the delivery of key events including Mitie leadership events and our Half Year and Full Year Results activity – ensuring the voice of Mitie Projects is always represented.
  • Support the wider Communications Team as a member of the Internal Communications SLT.

Person Specification

  • Proven experience in a senior internal communications role within a complex, matrixed organisation.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience leading teams and initiatives.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills at SLT and Executive levels.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business goals into communication strategies.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills across multiple channels and formats.
  • Experience in managing communications through periods of change and transformation.
  • Strong project management and planning capabilities, with a focus on delivery and outcomes.
  • Proficiency in digital communication tools, including Office 365 and intranet platforms.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams and business units.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent, preferably in Communications or related field.
