Job Specifics
• Responsible for the day to day management of a large and varied security guard force and other NON Security operatives within a highly regulated port related environment; to the requirements of the Maritime Security & Resilience Division (MSRD) of the Department for Transport and the ISO 28000 security management system
• Producing and reviewing risk assessments
• Ensuring continual improvement
• Reviewing customer requirements and implementing improvement;
• Ensuring that all security staff have an appropriate understanding of port security and policies, giving advice and instruction as necessary, and that all non security trained staff are given advice and instruction to complete their roles.
• Preparing and delivering safety and security awareness training, where necessary.
• Conducting security drills and inspections, preparing reports and holding debriefing sessions;
• Maintaining pay and invoicing systems;
• Maintaining an awareness of industry activity and legislation and of MSRD's strategic view;
• Ensuring compliance to the international ship and port facility secury code (ISPS)
• Ensuring compliance to the terminals port facility security plan (PFSP)
• setting performance expectations and providing performance feedback,
• recommending and implementing awards,
• identifying and implementing training needs,
• formulating budget proposals for the operations going forwards
• Ability to provide constructive advice and challenge when needed and provide feedback.

Main duties
• Management of security operations in compliance with DFT and the Port requirements identifying operational impacts of any process changes, new directions or audit recommendations. Agreeing and implementing appropriate actions including the assessment of any resourcing implications, and any facility enhancements designed to meet the needs of the business.
• Establishing the organizational structure and management systems required for threat identification, risk management, crisis management, employee accountability, and security of the facility.
• To ensure service delivery levels are being appropriately maintained. Making and implementing appropriate recommendations to improve standards, service and productivity on both short and medium term timescales.
• Review, develop and implement, with compliance, appropriate measures to inform the Security and non Security personel how they are performing against business critical criteria.
• Maintain control and ensure on time and quality delivery of any security related projects through effective planning and liaison with the Port,including the development of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Security Operating Procedures (SOPs) where appropriate.
• Ensuring that all actions identified from health and safety inspections, risk assessments/accidents are recognised and addressed as required. Meet with Health and safety representatives on a quarterly basis to ensure relevant issues are being acknowledged and dealt with appropriately.
• Manage the Security budget utilising any available tools such as Workplace+ Management System to improve both service and cost effectiveness of the section.
• To participate in projects and working parties and to carry out any other duties that may be outside the standard remit for the purpose of personal development, or as may be reasonably required by the Company.
• Follow Group and company policies and procedures at all times;
• Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment provided that may result in failure of service delivery or risk to health and safety or the environment;
• Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training received;
• Report any issues or training needs to your Line manager and /or via your divisional incident reporting system;
• Ensure that all staff act in a professional manner at all times
• Attend and produce reports for Meetings with the Client and Mitie
• Ensure the site is fully staffed at all times
• Ensure that all Security and non security are trained in there role with on going training
Person Specification
To demonstrate expertise in leadership role in a regulated aviation, maritime or land transport related environment, with demonstrable leadership and people management skills in Security leadership roles, preferably with experience of other .
To demonstrate detailed knowledge and understanding of operational practices, procedures and the statutory documents which govern security requirements in the Maritime sector plus an understanding of the risks transport security is posed with.
The successful candidates will have proven experience of Security project management and leading teams in a customer-facing environment. Experience of using data to understand and interpret trends. Candidates must have strong interpersonal and communication skills with a sense of urgency, ability to absorb various technical data, prioritise and to make sound decisions based on the information learnt. .
