Chatham Job Centre Plus, Crown House

Job Overview

  • Protect the client's people, property, and assets by delivering professional security services in accordance with site Assignment Instructions (AIs) and all operational procedures.
  • Contribute to the achievement and ongoing success of contract performance by delivering service standards that meet or exceed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Maintain a visible and proactive security presence, providing reassurance to staff and visitors while safeguarding the client's interests.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and commitment in all aspects of the role, acting as a positive representative of Mitie and the client.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development activities to enhance skills, knowledge, and professional competence, supporting continuous self-development and career progression.
  • You will be required to work one rostered Saturday within each four-week period. In return, you will receive a designated rest day during the week of your Saturday shift.
  • Working hours are 08:15 to 17:15 Monday to Friday, and 08:45 to 17:15 on Saturdays.
  • You will receive 20 days of annual leave, plus all applicable public holidays.

Main Duties

Operations

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of, and comply with, all company policies, procedures, legal requirements, and regulatory standards, in line with UK legislation and guidance.
  • Carry out all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the published Assignment Instructions (AIs) and site-specific operational requirements.
  • Regularly review Assignment Instructions and site documentation, ensuring familiarity with any updates and proactively identifying opportunities to improve service delivery.
  • Hold and maintain a valid front-line SIA licence (Security Guarding or Door Supervision), with a Door Supervisor (DS) licence required for this contract. The licence must be worn at all times whilst on duty.
  • Complete all mandatory contractual, statutory, and industry-required training courses within the specified timescales.
  • Ensure full compliance with all legal, health and safety, and regulatory obligations associated with the role.
  • Follow management instructions, company procedures, and operational requirements in a professional and cooperative manner.
  • Adopt a systematic, organised, and detail-oriented approach to work, maintaining high standards of accuracy and professionalism at all times.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to delivering excellent customer service while upholding security best practices and client expectations.

Training

  • Successfully complete all mandatory training and competency assessments within required timescales.
  • Undertake additional training and development activities as directed by the Security Account Manager to support continuous professional growth.
  • Utilise technology effectively to meet operational objectives and actively engage in continuous professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Maintain a valid SIA licence at all times and ensure renewal applications are submitted at least 16 weeks prior to the licence expiry date.

Security and Health & Safety

  • Remain vigilant at all times and promptly identify and report any health and safety hazards or potential risks within the workplace.
  • Monitor the site environment proactively, remaining alert to potential security threats and taking appropriate action to minimise disruption, loss, or damage.
  • Demonstrate sound judgement, initiative, and professionalism, seeking assistance or escalating concerns whenever a situation becomes challenging or threatening.
  • Maintain a professional, courteous, and calm approach when dealing with difficult situations, incidents, or challenging individuals.
  • Accurately record all incidents, ensuring detailed and timely notes are completed to support formal incident reporting processes.
  • Maintain high standards of reliability, punctuality, and commitment to both Mitie and the client.
  • Carry out all scheduled check calls within the designated timeframes in accordance with Assignment Instructions (AIs).
  • Ensure all incidents are reported promptly to the appropriate emergency services and the Communication Centre in line with company procedures.
  • Follow all site-specific procedures, Assignment Instructions, and operational requirements at all times.

What we are looking for

  • Previous experience within the security industry.
  • Valid DS SIA Licence (desirable).
  • Current SC Clearance or eligibility to obtain clearance (desirable).
  • Strong team-working skills with the ability to build positive working relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with colleagues and clients at all levels.
