Job location: TFL- Lewisham, New Cross Gate Depot 

Pay rate: £14.80 per hour 

Shift pattern: 3days, 3nights, 3off 

Schedule – Days, nights, and weekends – 12-hour shifts.  

Annual Leave entitlement – Accumulative.  

Role: Security Officer 

 

 

Job Overview  

  • To protect our customer's property, people and/or assets by providing security services in direct accordance with the sites published Assignment Instructions (AI's) and any subsequent changes.  
  • Delivering results that meet and / or exceed the Key performance indicators / Service Level Agreement for the customer through full responsibility and accountability, providing a service that aids in the retention of the contract.  
  • To undertake additional training to ensure continuous self-development.  

 

Operations  

  • To be aware of and ensure compliance with all aspects of policies and relevant legal and regulatory requirements as directed by the Security Account Manager and in accordance with UK Law and Guidance bodies.  
  • Fully and satisfactorily complete all the tasks and duties on site as defined within the published Assignment Instructions (AI's).  
  • Proactively refer to and review the published Assignment Instructions, thus familiarising oneself with any changes to suggest additional amendments that will improve or enhance the current level of service.  
  • To be compliant with Industry and Statutory Legislation (you are required to obtain a front-line licence in either Security Guarding or Door Supervision), which must be always worn whilst carrying out your duties.  
  • Comply with legal obligations and safety requirements of the role.  
  • Follow instructions and procedures appropriately without unnecessarily challenging authority.  
  • Work in a systematic, methodology and orderly way.  

 

Training 

  • Fully and satisfactorily complete all required competency training.  
  • To undertake additional training to ensure continuous self-development as directed by the Security Account Manager.  
  • Use technology to achieve key work objectives and develop job knowledge and expertise through continual professional development.  
  • You are required to ensure you renew your licence 16 weeks before expiry.  

 

Security and Health & Safety  

  • Look out for, and to immediately report, any Health & Safety hazards, or potential hazards, on site.  
  • Stay alert to any threats or changes within the work environment in order to take the appropriate action to reduce the chance of disruption, loss or damage.  
  • Use common sense and initiative by immediately involving others if a situation appears to become threatening.  
  • To maintain professional conduct in the face of difficult situations and challenging customers.  
  • Complete an accurate, detailed notebook entry as soon as possible after any incident, which can then be used as part of the Incident Report process.  
  • Keep to schedules and demonstrate commitment to Mitie and the Client.  
  • To call emergency services and Communication Centre to report all incidents.  

 

Responsibilities  

 

Security Responsibilities /contract deliverables:   

This is to include an overview of all the security duties contractually agreed with client, such as, patrolling, gate house management, reception, first aid, fire marshal and vehicle banksman.  Operations managers are to consult with QHSE managers when specialist duties are covered in the assignment.  

  • Conduct depot patrols, utilising electronic clocking system.  
  • Immediate response to and reporting flooding, fire, intruders and any other unexpected occurrences. 
  • Completion of TFL Overground incident reports.  
  • Undertake the role of TFL Overground Emergency Co-ordinator and implementation of the TFL's  

Emergency Procedures Plan.  

  • Implementation of the TFL Overground Major Incident Plan.  
  • Access and Egress control including traffic management duties.  
  • Dealing with delivery of parcels, mails, recorded deliveries and couriers.  
  • Monitoring of TFL Overground house rules and regulations.  
  • Monitoring the Depot CCTV systems. 
  • Key Control.  
  • Perform fire warden duties when required.  
  • Carry out First Aid duties when required.  
  • Maintenance of daily log or logs in an approved form recording the details of visitors to site.  
  • Supervision of the car park facilities.  
  • Use of public address system and fire detection equipment.  
  • Operation of mechanical and electronic access control systems.  
  • Implementation of the depot winterisation plan. 

 

 

Customer Service  

  • Be always polite and courteous.  
  • Ensure all customer complaints are captured, documented and where possible satisfactorily resolved and escalated through the Operational Chain of Command.  
  • Continuously liaise with the security team to ensure security operations run in accordance with site rules, regulations along with current management and client instructions.  
  • Ensure all personnel always receive an excellent customer service.  

 

 

 Operational Efficiency  

  • Promote document and client contract compliance, providing support and guidance to ensure that a safe and secure working environment is always maintained 
  • Ensure familiarity with all equipment required for the delivery of service especially in relation to CCTV Systems, Access Control Systems, uniforms, torches, and personal protective equipment (PPE).  
  • Ensure familiarity with the Company Hourly Paid Staff Handbook and company policies and procedures.  
  • Ensure delivery of a prompt and adequate response to incidents at the client's premises in line with Company procedures and contractual requirements together with the compilation of incident reports.  
  • Ensure availability of all equipment required for the delivery of service especially in relation to CCTV systems, Access Control systems and personal protection equipment (PPE), with any issues being escalated through the Operational Chain of Command.  
  • Ensure full understanding of escalation procedure for incidents.  
  • Ensure familiarity with all Assignment Instructions, policies, procedures, and site-specific documentation.  
  • Ensure delivery of all reporting standards and requirements within the agreed timescale as per the Standard Operating Procedures.  
  • Ensure familiarity of all relevant legislation required for the role i.e., DSE, GDPR etc.  
  • Liaise with emergency services as requested and required 
  • Carry out duties and always requested tasks effectively and professionally.  
  • Timely arrival prior to shift commencement to ensure a thorough handover/takeover of duties on post.  
  • Assist in the prevention of unlawful acts.
