Job Overview

We are looking for a professional, confident, and customer-focused Security Officer to help create a safe and welcoming environment for our customers, colleagues, and visitors. You will play an essential role in protecting people, property, and assets while delivering an outstanding service experience.

The successful candidate will:

• Provide a high standard of security service in line with site Assignment Instructions and company procedures.
• Support the delivery of excellent customer service and contribute to achieving contract performance standards.
• Build positive relationships with colleagues, customers, and stakeholders.
• Take ownership of their professional development through ongoing training and learning opportunities.
• Act as a visible and approachable presence, helping to promote a safe and secure environment.

Main Duties

Operations

• Maintain compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and industry regulations.
• Complete all site duties and responsibilities in accordance with Assignment Instructions.
• Regularly review site procedures and contribute ideas to improve service delivery and operational effectiveness.
• Hold and maintain the required SIA licence(s) and complete any additional training required for the role.
• Follow all health, safety, and security procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
• Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and sound decision-making at all times.
• Work in an organised, proactive, and efficient manner while managing tasks effectively.

Training & Development

• Complete all mandatory training and competency assessments.
• Participate in additional learning and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
• Use technology and digital systems confidently to support daily duties and improve performance.
• Take responsibility for maintaining professional qualifications and renewing licences in line with company requirements.
• Embrace opportunities for growth and career progression within the business.

Security & Health & Safety

• Identify and report any health and safety concerns, hazards, or risks promptly.
• Remain vigilant and aware of activities or situations that may impact the safety and security of the site.
• Use initiative and seek support when dealing with potentially challenging situations.
• Maintain a calm, professional, and customer-focused approach, even in difficult circumstances.
• Complete accurate and detailed incident records in line with company procedures.
• Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and commitment to both Mitie and the client.
• Carry out all required check calls and security checks as outlined in site instructions.
• Report incidents promptly to the Communication Centre and emergency services when required.
• Promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for everyone on site.

Essential

• Valid SIA Licence (Security Guarding or Door Supervision)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Professional, approachable, and confident manner
• Strong attention to detail and ability to stay calm under pressure
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Commitment to delivering excellent customer service

Desirable

• SC Clearance
• CCTV (PSS) SIA Licence
• Previous experience within the security industry
• Experience working in a customer-facing environment
