Retail Security Officer

Location: LIDL Midsomer Norton

About the Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced and professional Retail Security Officer to join our team at LIDL Midsomer Norton.

This role is ideal for a proactive and customer-focused security professional who is passionate about maintaining a safe and secure shopping environment. You will play a vital role in protecting store assets, reducing stock loss, deterring criminal activity, and supporting colleagues and customers throughout the day.

Working as part of the wider store team, you will provide a highly visible security presence while delivering excellent customer service and ensuring company procedures are followed at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a professional and visible security presence throughout the store.
  • Deter theft, fraud, stock loss, and anti-social behaviour.
  • Conduct regular patrols of the sales floor, warehouse, and external areas.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to incidents and emergencies.
  • Monitor and report suspicious activity.
  • Complete detailed and accurate incident reports.
  • Support store management with loss prevention initiatives.
  • Liaise with local authorities and emergency services when required.
  • Promote a safe and welcoming environment for customers and colleagues.
  • Ensure all duties are carried out in accordance with company and client procedures.

Essential Requirements

  • Valid SIA Door Supervisor or Security Guarding Licence.
  • Previous retail security experience is essential.
  • Strong understanding of retail loss prevention and crime reduction.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional, confident, and approachable manner.
  • Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent observation skills and attention to detail.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including weekends.

Technical Skills

The successful candidate must be comfortable using technology and digital reporting systems, including:

  • Incident reporting and case management platforms.
  • Mobile devices and tablets for reporting and communication.
  • CCTV and security monitoring systems.
  • Electronic evidence gathering and report submission tools.
  • Microsoft Outlook and other workplace communication systems.
  • Internal compliance and security management software.

The ideal candidate will be approachable, customer-focused, and able to build positive relationships with both customers and store colleagues while maintaining a strong security presence.

You will have excellent communication skills, confidence using digital reporting systems, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism at all times.
