Job Summary

We are seeking a vigilant and proactive Retail mobile  Security Officers to cover wide range of stores on B&Q across London who will also play a key role in supporting our existing team members. In this dual-capacity role, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure shopping environment, preventing loss, and providing exceptional customer service. Additionally, you will be instrumental in assisting new starters, ensuring a smooth and welcoming onboarding experience, and helping them integrate into our store's operations.

Key Responsibilities

Security & Loss Prevention:

  • Maintain a Secure Environment: Conduct regular patrols of the store premises, including sales floors, stockrooms, and perimeter areas, to identify and address potential security risks, hazards, and suspicious activities.
  • Deter & Detect Theft: Act as a visible deterrent to theft and other criminal activities. Monitor CCTV cameras, identify shoplifters, and follow established protocols for intervention and apprehension, ensuring compliance with all legal guidelines.
  • Respond to Incidents: Efficiently respond to security alarms, emergency situations (e.g., medical emergencies, fire alarms), and customer disturbances, escalating issues to management and emergency services as required.
  • Report & Document: Accurately document all security incidents, observations, and actions taken in detailed reports. Maintain organized records for internal review and potential legal proceedings.
  • Customer Service & Assistance: Provide excellent customer service by assisting shoppers with inquiries, offering directions, and fostering a friendly and secure atmosphere.
  • Asset Protection: Monitor merchandise displays and high-value items to prevent theft or damage.
  • Adherence to Policy: Ensure strict adherence to all company security policies, procedures, and relevant legal regulations.

New Starter Assistance:

  • Welcoming & Onboarding Support: Greet new employees on their first day, provide an initial store tour, and help them locate essential facilities (e.g., restrooms, breakroom, locker areas).
  • Initial Guidance: Offer practical assistance and guidance on basic store operations, such as where to find common supplies, how to access team communication tools, and initial introductions to key team members.
  • Buddy System: Act as an initial point of contact for new starters, answering their questions, and helping them navigate their initial weeks.
  • Culture Integration: Help new employees understand and embrace the company culture, values, and expectations.
  • Feedback & Communication: Provide informal feedback to new starters and escalate any significant concerns or challenges to management to ensure a positive onboarding experience.
  • Resource Navigation: Direct new starters to appropriate resources for HR-related questions, training modules, and company policies.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in security, loss prevention, or a similar role, preferably within a retail environment.
  • Excellent observation and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers, employees, and management.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure during stressful situations.
  • Basic knowledge of retail operations and customer service principles.
  • A friendly, approachable, and patient demeanor, suitable for assisting new team members.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
