Job Overview

  • Support the QSHE Manager with his duties. In particular with the implementation and management of all the contract and Mitie QSHE policies, assets, resources, processes and systems delivering beyond best in class measurable performance and behaviours
  • Support the departmental managers in delivering advice, assistance, training, and mentoring for all quality, Safety, Health, and Environmental aspects of the ISP South Atlantic Contract on Ascension Island.
  • Help implement QSHE systems and policies, ensuring they are understood by all contract personnel and that the contract complies with statutory legislation, QSHE policies, and procedures.
  • Provide QSHE advice to our client, company managers, personnel, and sub-contractors as needed. Assist in managing, arranging, and monitoring audits and addressing any non-conformances.
  • Work closely with the UK QSHE Team to support the implementation of the Mitie IMS system across the contract, aligning with Mitie QSHE policies and procedures, and promoting best practices.
  • Assist in implementing and managing the EMO2 audit process across all PJOB ASI in consultation with the Mitie EMO2 and DIO ASI Assurance Team as required.
  • Participate in EMO2 performance analysis and reporting in line with the EMO2 policy. Participate in SAI & UK Assurance Workshops and associated meetings. Management of improvement action plans, database recording, statistical analysis and training as required. Undertake/support audits in line with the EMO2 audit strategy.

 

Main Duties

  • Assist in developing and delivering in-house quality, health and safety, and environmental training packages, including toolbox talks. Help manage the training register and matrix.
  • Support the production, updating, and maintenance of site-specific QSHE plans and management systems such as Asbestos, Legionella, and the Contract Management Plan.
  • Assist in conducting self-assessments and reviews, and support the implementation of continuous improvement objectives.
  • Participate in site QSHE inspections and tours, ensuring effective sub-contractor management and control.
  • Help manage company online QSHE tools and databases.
  • Assist in the implementation of the EMO2 Audit regime and manage QSHE audit documents, records, and trackers. Provide support during third-party audits and visits as required.
  • Support and mentor the QSHE Process Coordinator and EMO2 assistant in their duties.
  • Provide support to the Project Team with tender preparation, reviews, and submissions related to QSHE.
  • Maintain accurate records and assist in reporting monthly on QSHE statistics, including non-conformances, accidents, incidents, and environmental metrics.
  • Support the maintenance and implementation of the waste management and environmental plans.
  • Provide advice on developing and implementing method statements and risk assessments in line with company policies and procedures.
  • Assist in investigating accidents, incidents, and near misses, and support prompt and accurate reporting, action plans, and process reviews.
  • Attend monthly meetings, including Health and Safety committee meetings, and other relevant safety meetings.
  • Advise on the creation and development of Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) in accordance with JSP375 and Mitie's own SSoW.
  • Work with colleagues to train and develop competencies for safe performance of their roles.
  • Assist in providing the Account Director with accurate and timely monthly operational reports on all QSHE activities and support other report submissions as needed.
  • Manage and populate the electronic reporting systems EcoOnline and SEVRON as required.
  • Assist the QSHE Team to ensure all QSHE activity is in accordance with the accredited systems ensuring process are in place to maintain the ISO 9001:2004, 14001:2015, BS OHSAS 18001, PAS 99 & BS11000 Collaborative Working accreditations.
  • Manage and co-ordinate the annual RoSPA Submission.

 

What we are looking for

  • NEBOSH General Certificate.
  • IOSH Managing Safety & IOSH Train the Trainer.
  • Lead Auditor 9001/45001 and experience in Quality Assurance.
  • Environmental Qualification such as IEMA is desirable.
  • Understanding and experience in carrying out audits to ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 requirements.
  • Experience in managing and maintaining an Environmental Management System (EMS).
  • Familiarity with Mitie business or experience in a construction or facilities management environment, particularly on an MOD establishment.
  • Proven experience in providing QSHE training and mentoring to diverse employee groups.
  • Good working knowledge of the MoD Health & Safety Manual (JSP375).
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, MS365, Teams, etc.
  • Proven track record in the practical application of operational health and safety policy.
  • Current or previous experience in MoD Authorised Person (AP) disciplines.
  • Must have a flexible, hands-on, can-do attitude and be willing to engage at all levels of the contract.
  • Experience in developing and motivating teams to achieve objectives.
  • Good communicator, willing to share knowledge and experience with others.
  • A good leader who leads by example and acts as a LiveSafe Champion on Ascension Island.
  • Interpersonal and Organisational Skills.
  • Must have a full driving licence.
  • A Can do, positive attitude.
