• Job purpose

  Responsible for the day to day running of the Main Power Station, monitoring the generators remotely from the control room and locally in the engine hall by carrying out the periodic checks to make sure they are operating correctly and safely. The planning of the preventative maintenance and repair services in the Main Power Station. General housekeeping duties within the Power Station

Main Duties

• Responsibilities

  · Monitoring all machinery, equipment and systems in the Post Holder's care functions within the specified operational parameters.

  · Produce daily accurate servicing engine records and where applicable, assist in producing reports associated with the above equipment.

  · Work as part of a Shift System carrying out PPM Maintenance and hourly logging of the diesel generators in the Main Power Station.

  · Monitor the main distribution control panel and engine fault alarms systems, Synchronise and Load Share Generators/Wind Turbines up to 1.5Mw onto the main busbars to 11kv 50Hz

  · Assist the Electrical/Mechanical personnel in the daily operations of the Main Power Station and Standby Power Station.

  · Maintain a clean and tidy environment throughout the Main Power Station

  · Carry out water treatment plant checks during night shift duty.

What we are looking for

• Knowledge skills & experience

  Essential

  · Must have or be capable of obtaining MoD SC security clearance.

  · Must be capable of obtaining a permit to work from the Falkland Island Government (FIG) through the completion of a UK Basic Police Check.

  · Must be able to be declared medically and dentally fit to work in the Falkland Islands.

  · Computer literate: Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  · Must have a full clean driving license.

  · Effective interpersonal skills.

  · Effective written communications skills.

  · Ability to organise and prioritise a diverse workload.

  · Ability to work as part of a Team.

  · Performance and quality focussed.

  Desirable

  · Experience of working a Shift System.

  · Previous experience of working in the Falkland Islands or working abroad in a MoD environment.

  · Knowledge and understanding and experience of control systems.

  · Experience in delivering Customer Care and being focussed on the support and Needs of the Client.
