Location:  UK Wide

Hours:  40hrs Monday to Friday + occasional on call requirement.

Main Duties:

Lead the delivery of crime investigation, intelligence, and partnership initiatives across a designated Sainsbury's geographic region. The role is responsible for driving measurable outcomes relating to offender management with a focus on customer and colleague safety, through effective team leadership, intelligence-led decision making, and strong partnerships, both internally and with external partners.

The successful candidate will be accountable for:

  • Leading a specialist team to identify, assess, and respond to crime, threat, and risk across the designated region.
  • Delivering high-quality intelligence and insight to influence internal stakeholders and external law enforcement partners.
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with local and national police forces to maximise information sharing and operational outcomes.
  • Collaborating with internal Operations teams, Stores, Police, Councils, Business Crime Reduction Partnerships (BCRPs), Business Improvement Districts (BIDs),
  • Improving the safety and security of colleagues, contractors, and store management teams by identifying root causes of crime and implementing effective solutions.

Person Specification:

The ideal candidate will be an experienced people leader with strong operational, intelligence, investigation and partnership-working skills. They will combine strategic thinking with practical delivery, using data, insight, and collaboration to reduce crime, improve safety, and deliver tangible outcomes for the business and its stakeholders.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Proven experience leading, developing, and mentoring teams within a performance-driven environment.
  • Strong knowledge of criminal law, justice processes, police procedures, and relevant legislation.
  • An understanding of the operational challenges and legislative constraints affecting law enforcement agencies.
  • A track record of building effective partnerships with police forces, community organisations, charities, and other external stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities, with the confidence to operate independently and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders.
  •  Advanced report-writing, analytical, and investigative skills, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Experience working in fast-paced environments, managing competing priorities and responding effectively under pressure.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
  • Good organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet challenging deadlines.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office applications and other technology platforms, including bespoke business systems.
  • The ability to follow established processes while also contributing to the development and improvement of policies and procedures.
  • A professional, positive, and resilient approach, with high levels of integrity, discretion, and reliability.
  • A good standard of education, including strong written and spoken English.

 

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • A valid SIA Front-Line Guarding Licence (minimum requirement).
  • Knowledge of the retail sector.
  • Experience managing service levels, identifying performance gaps, and implementing continuous improvement plans.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • A flexible approach to working hours and business requirements.
  • A professional and confident approach when working with clients, colleagues, and external partners.
  • A resilient, proactive, and solution-focused mindset with a strong commitment to achieving results.
