As part of our growing Engineering family, we are looking for a Multi Skilled Engineer OR Fabric Engineer to provide a building fabric maintenance and repairs service. The role sits within our facility support service and covers a diverse range of clients, industries and sectors.  

You will be responsible for delivering a building fabric service such as minor plumbing, carpentry, painting and decorating, and patch repairs.  Ideally you will have worked in the building services sector, or similar, with basic electrical and/or plumbing skills as you will be carrying out fabric repairs.  You should be physically fit as the role does involve some manual handling, working at heights and in confined spaces.  

You will keep the clients updated with any developments, recording all activities, remedial works, inspection logs etc and ensure a high level of customer service and will need good verbal and written communication and comfortable working with IT to record your tasks and updates,  

The ideal candidate would have a background in facilities management, a trade scheme or served experience. 

Role & Responsibilities

  • To provide dedicated support for the delivery of building maintenance and fabric services across the estate. Primarily focusing on providing the highest standard planned and reactive service delivery of services and supporting the Mitie strategic imperatives at an operational level.

Objectives:

  • Support the Regional Facilities Manager & Facilities Management Team in providing an overall integrated service.
  • To support, monitor and maintain a positive Health and Safety Culture.
  • To build great customer relationships and deliver customer service excellence.
  • Drive the successful completion of the Mitie business and contract objectives.
  • Delivery of contract administration duties.
  • Operate in line with the Mitie values & behaviours.

Main duties:

  • Ensuring the timely delivery of general building and fabric maintenance
  • Ensure that service delivery meets the requirements of performance targets, KPIs and Health & Safety
  • Undertake minor works / alterations.
  • Ensuring equipment is kept clean, in working order and sent for repair where necessary.
  • Carry out Building Maintenace Technician duties, such as but not limited to:
    • Maintenance / repair to joinery
    • Maintenance / minor repair to building fabric Ad hoc painting / touching up to properties
    • Minor mechanical / electrical repairs
    • Minor repair to plumbing systems and clearing blockages
  • Gutter & gulley clearance
  • PPM's) Planned Preventative Maintenance jobs assigned
  • Lath & Plaster inspections
  • Repairs and modifications to tiling
  • Repairs and modification to door locks and door jam repair, hanging doors, adjusting and installing door closers,
  • Repairs and maintenance to ceiling tiles, and any general repair to the facility that is required to maintain the standard of the building.

Person Specification

  • Previous building maintenance Fabric Technician role or similar experience in a large organisation
  • Excellent technical competency skills in relation to general building repairs and maintenance and a sound understanding of mechanical and electrical systems
  • An ability to work efficiently as a team as well as under your own initiative in a demanding environment where accuracy is paramount
  • A professional attitude in all areas of job role with the ability to challenge issues comprehensively and resolve them effectively
  • Excellent Customer Service experience preferably with an emphasis on dealing with customers and clients both face to face and over the phone
  • Manual Handling Certified and physically able
  • Enthusiastic and Hard working
