The post holder will carry out all maintenance work at Alder Hey Children's Hospital. The operative must have the ability to work effectively with the minimum of supervision. This will involve working across trade groups to provide an effective maintenance, repair and installation service which is responsive to user's needs. The post holder will be employed to undertake work appropriate to their core tradecraft skill. They will, however, progressively be trained to acquire elements of each others skills with the intention of reaching levels of multi trade flexibility and competence to enable them to achieve and apply their ability where required. |
Main Duties
The post holder will provide an effective and efficient maintenance repair service on all Trust property that requires any building/plastering tasks within their trade competences.
Application of internal plaster and cement finishes to walls and ceilings including wall tiling, plasterboarding and dry lining. Fixing of timber and plasterboard to construct and repair partition walls within compartments.
Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance and utilise management systems as detailed by Line Manager..
To have the ability to interpret and work from all plans, manuals, technical drawings and specifications appropriate to his/her trade, with minimal supervision.
To work on all drains, gutters, internal pluming and drainage and sewerage systems on site. Problem solving and fault finding defects and blockages in drains.
To assist in a range of other craftsperson's tasks.
Be competent at internal tiling of bathrooms, showers and kitchens (including the main catering areas).
To safely repair or replace suspended ceiling systems.
To efficiently repair faults in the buildings structure, fabric and finishes and to deal with new situations as they arise and to pass on knowledge to others.
To carry out repairs to road surfaces and various work on grounds and garden
Application of external finishes including sand and cement rendering, pebble dashing and re-pointing to all types of sub-structure.
Setting out and fixing natural and propriety roof slates and tiles, including the application of waterproofing compounds for temporary repairs. Erecting and dismantling of scaffolds and mobile towers to gain access to roofs and gables.
Shuttering and constructing framework for concreting ramps, paths and stairs.
Laying external kerbs, flagging, path edges, concreting and drainage repairs.
Laying of any building materials including brick, block, stone, thermolite block in line with trade competency.
Patch repairs to brickwork or blockwork, stonewalls and stonework, including the re-building of new openings, retaining walls and structures e.g. manholes.
