Mitie is seeking a dedicated and passionate Multi Skilled Technician with expertise in carpentry and painting to join an experienced and versatile team. This team delivers first-class services to our world-class Armed Forces personnel. In this role, you will efficiently operate and maintain new and existing buildings, primarily focusing on reactive maintenance. Your tasks will include fault finding and accurately completing all work-related documentation on time. Occasionally, you will assist with planned preventative maintenance.
Your main duties will include responding to reactive repairs, making safe and isolating issues, performing minor building fabric repairs, and carrying out carpentry work such as window and door repairs and fitting hardware, including lock replacements. You will also handle minor glazing repairs, decorating and patch repair tasks, and minor plumbing repairs. Occasionally, you will escort sub-contractors or personnel around the base. Maintaining accurate documentation of all assigned work orders and complying fully with health, safety, and environmental policies is essential. Providing excellent customer service to building occupants and custodians, ensuring they are informed of work order progress in a timely manner, and liaising with clients on-site are also key responsibilities. You will assist other team members when required and report on all jobs within one hour of attendance. Occasionally, you may need to collect parts or goods from suppliers with authorization from your line manager.
The ideal candidate will have experience in building maintenance, handyperson, or janitorial duties, with a good understanding of health and safety requirements within the facility maintenance environment. You should have a proactive approach to maintenance and building management, with time-served qualified carpenter skills (ideally C&G Carpentry parts 1 & 2 or equivalent). Basic computer literacy and excellent time management skills are also required.
Information security responsibilities include ensuring compliance with Mitie's information security procedures in all activities, proactively identifying and reporting security risks to your manager, and reporting actual and suspected security incidents. MOD security clearance and DBS standards are required, and to meet national security vetting requirements, you will normally need to have been resident in the UK for at least three years to gain security clearance. Proof of the right to work in the UK is essential. The contract operates a 40-hour working week between 0800 and 1700, Monday to Friday. You will be required to wear approved company workwear and hold a full UK driving licence. A company van with a fuel card and a mobile phone will be provided.
