The role forms part of an operational shift rota and includes standby, on-call and out-of-hours working where required. Flexibility is important, as working patterns may change to meet operational needs.

You will need to be adaptable, safety-focused and comfortable working in an operational environment where priorities and working patterns can change in response to aircraft movements, weather and other operational requirements.

What You'll Get

  • Tax-efficient income
  • Free accommodation and meals
  • Return flights to the UK twice a year
  • 40 days' annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Access to gym, sports and swimming facilities
  • 5% monthly site allowance
  • 10% annual tour bonus
  • Professional development opportunities
  • 24-month fixed-term contract

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake a range of driving and vehicle-operating duties in support of operational requirements.
  • Safely operate vehicles and specialist equipment for which you are appropriately licensed, trained and authorised.
  • Carry out required daily and weekly vehicle inspections, promptly reporting defects, damage or serviceability concerns.
  • Undertake general vehicle husbandry, including vehicle preparation, cleanliness, routine checks and care of allocated vehicles and equipment.
  • Help ensure vehicles and equipment remain safe, clean and serviceable.
  • Accurately complete driving records, inspection documentation and other required records.
  • Comply with applicable driving-hours requirements and relevant Health & Safety, Quality Assurance and Environmental procedures.
  • Support the upkeep and day-to-day operation of the Daily Inspection Bay.
  • Follow relevant tool-control and equipment-control procedures.
  • Communicate professionally with colleagues, passengers, customers and operational teams.
  • Support the wider Mechanical Transport team and undertake other reasonable duties as operationally required.

What We Are Looking For

Essential
  • UK Category C (Large Goods Vehicles) and Category D (Passenger Carrying Vehicles) driving licence entitlements, or the relevant Ascension equivalent Category J licence.
  • Suitable literacy and numeracy skills to complete records and documentation accurately.
  • Good IT capabilities, including the ability to complete records, access information and undertake routine administrative tasks.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with colleagues, passengers, customers and operational teams.
  • A strong commitment to Health & Safety and safe vehicle and equipment operation.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to work effectively in a time-critical and changing operational environment.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • A flexible and responsible approach to operational requirements, including shift, standby, on-call and out-of-hours working.
Desirable
  • ADR Class 3 (Flammable Liquids) qualification with the appropriate tanker entitlement for operating refuelling bowsers.
  • Experience operating HGVs, large passenger-carrying vehicles or specialist vehicles and equipment.
  • Previous experience within a transport, airfield or similar operational environment.
