ROLE: Maintenance Technician
HOURS: 52 hours  (4 on -4 off)
LOCATION: Wakefield

At Mitie, our people are our greatest strength, and our promise is to create a place to work where you can thrive and be your best every day. We're looking for a Handyperson / Caretaker who will support the contract team in the provision of a high-quality service across site operations.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Carry out general porterage, cleaning (including cell cleaning), and decorating duties as requested by the Facilities Manager, maintaining internal and external entrances and surrounding areas.
  • Liaise with Mitie staff and management on the day-to-day running of the building, including reporting issues relating to operation and appearance.
  • Conduct routine checks and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), including fire damper testing (training provided), to ensure optimum plant and equipment performance.
  • Address minor internal issues such as blocked drains, toilets, spillages, and replacement of light bulbs and lamps, as well as minor repairs to fixtures, fittings, and equipment.
  • Support business operations by setting up rooms, AV equipment, furniture, receiving goods and supplies, reporting faults, and assisting with business continuity procedures.

 

Required Qualifications: applicants must meet the below defined requirements for the role.

  • Previous experience as a handyperson or caretaker in a customer-facing environment.
  • Physical dexterity and manual handling ability, with the capability to work in a demanding and busy environment.
  • Friendly and approachable manner with the ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to set and maintain very high standards of delivery and complete tasks above expectations.
