Are you an experienced maintenance professional looking for a unique overseas opportunity?

We are looking for a Maintenance Supervisor to support the delivery of hard facilities management services across the British Forces South Atlantic Islands (BFSAI) estate in the Falkland Islands. Working alongside the Maintenance Manager and Core FM Team, you will play a key role in ensuring planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contractual requirements, statutory obligations, and industry best practice.

This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically biased supervisor who enjoys leading teams, coordinating maintenance activities, and maintaining essential infrastructure within a dynamic Defence environment.

What You'll Be Doing

As Maintenance Supervisor, you will:

  • Supervise and manage the Mechanical Maintenance Team, allocating planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance tasks.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities across multiple disciplines to ensure service delivery requirements are met.
  • Act as department lead during periods when the Maintenance Manager is unavailable.
  • Plan and schedule specialist contractor visits and statutory inspection activities.
  • Work closely with the Helpdesk and PPM Team to prioritise workloads and allocate resources effectively.
  • Support monthly and annual maintenance reporting requirements.
  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on a range of mechanical systems and plant.
  • Ensure compliance with Permit to Work (PTW) procedures and Safe Systems of Work (SSoW).
  • Coach, support, and develop Mechanical Technicians through technical guidance and training.
  • Maintain accurate labour, materials, and maintenance records.
  • Manage remedial works documentation, including IRL and LCR submissions.
  • Support emergency call-outs and operational maintenance activities when required.
  • Travel to remote sites and mountain-top radar locations to support maintenance operations where necessary.

What You'll Be Working On

You will support the maintenance and operation of a wide range of mechanical systems, including:

  • Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) systems.
  • Industrial hangar doors.
  • Mechanical ventilation systems.
  • Medium Temperature Hot Water (MTHW) systems.
  • Steam systems and boilers.
  • Compressors and compressed air systems.
  • Lift ramps.
  • Catering and commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Oil-fired plant and associated mechanical infrastructure.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • GCSEs or equivalent qualifications.
  • Completed apprenticeship or NVQ Level 2 (or higher) in a relevant mechanical discipline.
  • Strong mechanical engineering background.
  • Experience maintaining mechanical plant and building services systems.
  • Working knowledge of:
    • Oil-fired plant.
    • Compressors and compressed air systems.
    • Mechanical doors.
    • Lift ramps.
    • Kitchen and catering equipment.
    • Steam boilers.
  • IT literacy, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project.
  • Good understanding of Health and Safety legislation.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and manage competing demands.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and able to work effectively under pressure.

Desirable

  • Experience working overseas or in remote locations.
  • Experience within a Ministry of Defence environment.
  • Experience within a Petroleum, Oils and Lubricants (POL) environment.
  • CITB Health, Safety and Environment for Managers qualification.
  • SSSTS or SMSTS certification.
  • CSCS Card.
  • IPAF and PASMA qualifications.
  • Asbestos Awareness training.
  • Experience using Maximo or similar CAFM systems.
  • Previous experience training, coaching, or mentoring maintenance personnel.
