Job Overview:
As the Innovations Manager for the Soft Services Contract at Manchester Airport, you will be responsible for driving innovation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence within the soft services division. Working closely with senior leadership, clients, and internal teams, you will play a key role in identifying and implementing new solutions, technologies, and processes that enhance service delivery, improve customer satisfaction, and promote sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and drive innovation initiatives across all soft services areas at Manchester Airport, including cleaning, waste management and pest control.
  • Identify, assess, and implement emerging technologies and solutions to improve service efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including the client, operational teams, and service providers, to align innovation initiatives with business objectives and customer needs.
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote sustainability within soft services operations, ensuring the contract delivers on environmental and sustainability goals.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes to ensure that Mitie remains ahead of the curve.
  • Manage pilot projects and trials of new technologies or processes, ensuring their successful integration into day-to-day operations.
  • Create and deliver presentations to senior management and clients, showcasing innovation successes and outlining future opportunities.
  • Monitor and report on the performance of innovation initiatives, using data and feedback to refine and optimize solutions.
  • Foster a culture of innovation within the team, encouraging creative problem-solving and the adoption of new ideas.
  • Collaborate with other departments within Mitie to ensure a cohesive approach to service delivery and innovation across the business.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proven experience in a similar innovation, transformation, or project management role, preferably within the facilities management or aviation sector.
  • Strong knowledge of soft services operations, with a focus on customer experience, quality, and sustainability.
  • Experience with implementing new technologies, digital solutions, or process improvements to enhance service delivery.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to use data to drive decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with a focus on delivering results within agreed timelines and budgets.
  • A proactive and forward-thinking mindset, always seeking opportunities to innovate and improve.
  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant field (e.g., business, operations, engineering).
  • Knowledge of airport operations and the specific challenges faced within the aviation and travel industry is desirable but not essential.
