Better places, thriving communities.

Head of Workplace Experience

Location: Newbury or London as home base – regular travel to sites

Creating the #1 workplace that #1 people remember

At Mitie Signature, we believe great workplaces are remembered not simply because they operate well, but because of how they make people feel.

We are looking for an exceptional Head of Workplace Experience to lead the next chapter of workplace experience for #1 Network.

This is a senior and highly visible leadership role, responsible for implementing and embedding the workplace experience strategy across three main sites and three micro sites. Leading a national team of approximately 35 colleagues, you will bring together people, culture, hospitality, workplace services and customer experience to create workplaces where colleagues feel welcomed, connected and inspired.

The Opportunity

As Head of Workplace Experience, you will lead the implementation, delivery and continued evolution of the established workplace experience strategy across the portfolio. You will turn the strategy and client ambitions into clear delivery plans and meaningful moments that colleagues, customers and visitors can see, feel and remember. Working closely with senior client stakeholders, operational leaders and integrated facilities management teams, you will ensure workplace experience becomes part of the culture rather than simply a service. This role requires an influential and inspiring leader who can mobilise teams, drive consistent delivery and turn the strategy into experiences that make a measurable difference.

What You'll Do

Deliver the Workplace Experience Strategy

  • Implement and embed the workplace experience strategy across all main sites.
  • Translate the strategy into clear plans, priorities and ways of working.
  • Create consistent, memorable experiences tailored to each location.
  • Use insight, feedback and data to drive continuous improvement.
  • Bring planned activations to life to strengthen connection and pride.

Inspire and Lead the Team

  • Lead and inspire a national team of approximately 35 colleagues.
  • Set a clear purpose, expectations and freedom to deliver meaningful experiences.
  • Coach managers and frontline colleagues to lead with confidence and authenticity.
  • Build a culture of ownership, wellbeing, inclusion, recognition and pride.
  • Develop future leaders and a strong talent pipeline.

Bring the Experience to Life

  • Turn strategy into engaging experiences across every location.
  • Deliver activations that respond to colleague needs and workplace behaviours.
  • Ensure every touchpoint creates a positive, joined-up experience.
  • Empower teams to anticipate needs, remove friction and show genuine care.
  • Test, refine and scale successful ideas across the portfolio.

Build Strategic Client Partnerships

  • Build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders.
  • Act as the strategic voice and subject-matter expert for workplace experience.
  • Turn changing priorities into clear improvements and opportunities.
  • Present insight, performance and recommendations with confidence.
  • Influence investment by demonstrating measurable value across engagement, attraction and retention.

Connect the Wider Service Community

  • Unite workplace experience and integrated facilities management around a shared purpose.
  • Build shared ownership of the experience across every service line.
  • Strengthen collaboration, learning and consistent delivery.
  • Influence beyond your direct team through clear, visible leadership.
  • Ensure services work seamlessly for colleagues, customers and visitors.

Drive Innovation and Continuous Improvement

  • Lead workplace experience transformation across the portfolio.
  • Challenge established ways of working and introduce relevant new ideas.
  • Use behavioural insight, feedback and trends to shape future experiences.
  • Measure impact, refine the approach and scale success.
  • Build an experience model that becomes a benchmark for excellence.

Lead Performance and Commercial Delivery

  • Set clear experience and performance expectations.
  • Oversee resources, budgets and workforce planning.
  • Use insight to identify trends, opportunities and required action.
  • Balance innovation with operational and commercial discipline.
  • Link investment to measurable outcomes and value.
  • Contribute confidently to governance, reviews and future planning.

Safety and Compliance

  • Champion safe working practices and a confident speak-up culture.
  • Ensure services meet contractual, governance, compliance and risk requirements.

About You

You are an inspiring, people-focused and commercially aware leader who understands the power of workplace experience to influence how people feel, connect and perform. You are as comfortable implementing strategy and reporting to senior stakeholders as you are spending time with frontline teams and experiencing the workplace through the eyes of a colleague or visitor. You bring energy, curiosity and credibility. You understand that the most successful workplace experiences are not created by one team alone. They are created by bringing people, services and spaces together around a shared purpose.

You'll Bring

  • Senior leadership experience within workplace experience, hospitality, customer experience, facilities management or integrated facilities management.
  • Proven experience leading multi-site operations and geographically dispersed teams.
  • Experience directly leading and developing teams through managers and frontline leaders.
  • A strong understanding of customer and colleague experience.
  • The ability to translate strategy into practical, engaging experiences.
  • Strong client and senior stakeholder management capability.
  • Experience delivering transformation, innovation or cultural change.
  • Confidence using data, feedback and insight to guide decisions.
  • Commercial awareness, including budgets, resource planning and performance management.
  • A natural ability to engage, influence and bring people with you.
  • The flexibility to travel regularly between Reading, Swindon, Newbury and other portfolio locations.
