Job Description 
Objectives and Responsibilities 


This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly specialised division within the UK's largest security company.  MIRAS a division of Mitie Security provide converged and specialised security solutions that includes risk and assurance, intelligence, counter-espionage, TSCM, Safer Communities solutions, and training deliverables to a diverse multi-national portfolio with some of the most renowned and prestigious global brands. 

The Head of Training will be pivotal in driving the continuous growth of MIRAS, focusing on ensuring that our training offering remains best in market for our learners, who are looking to develop their security skills and expertise through us. 

As a training subject matter expert specific to the security industry, you will be shaping the future of, and raising the quality line for, those keeping our clients safe. You will be a thought-leader and innovator, keen to identify methods of continuous improvement for how training is delivered through access to a strong network of peers and use of new or emerging technologies. 

You will also work closely with MIRAS's senior leadership team, driving operations and informing them of growth opportunities, while advising on different market-entry points where we can make a meaningful difference to our clients security strategies. 

The ideal candidate will have a higher education background and knowledge of the adult learner and continuous professional development knowledge in pracademic and academic disciplines. As a subject matter expert in your own right, you will be actively contributing to our collective consultancy-led approach to delivering these solutions, safeguarding people, assets and reputations. 

 

Key Accountabilities and Role Overview

 

•    Working with MIRAS SLT, divisional heads, senior client stakeholders, and other internal and external stakeholders to create and deliver an innovative range of training deliverables related to a specialist security, security systems, intelligence, risk, and assurance.
•    To be a subject matter expert in security education considering new or emerging legislation, compliance and standards, and seek market opportunities to deliver training products as a market leading deliverer.
•    To develop and maintain industry contacts and participate/contribute to industry associations/forums that ensure training knowledge remains current and forward leaning as possible.
•    Shape strategic plans and create operational plans to adapt current capabilities, ensuring innovation and continuous improvement of training deliverables.
•    To seek digitisation solutions and workflow efficiencies to futureproof our delivery as we scale and increase volume of outputs to our customers.
•    To oversee training P&L and work with Financial Business Partners from pipeline through to delivery, working to budgets and financial targets.
•    Attend conferences and expo's to deliver market leading thought-leadership and develop opportunities through networking and building on existing partnerships and affiliations: SyI, ASIS, ASC etc. 
•    Create monthly reporting related to financial performance, operational performance and business case development, with a focus on growth.
•    Ensure full compliance across the operational delivery model, supporting the Director of Operation with operational effectiveness. 
•    Work collaboratively across MIRAS to deliver in a converged and holistic way – supporting the development of proposals for direct service-line and blended opportunities. 

Key Skills and Experience

•    Degree-educated or higher, or an equivalent qualification, in a relevant subject matter area.
•    At least 5 years previous experience of working at a management level within a security training environment and working with matrixed teams, that include sales, ops and admin. 
•    Highly skilled in building relationships with customers and partners.
•    Ability to formulate logical and measured business risk-assessments, business cases, proposals, updated training literature and tracking documents for the purpose of MI reporting.
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail and fluency in both spoken and written English.
•    Proficient at presenting to senior stakeholders and public speaking.
•    Demonstrable knowledge of global or domestic events that may shape the direction of training for the security industry, such as Martyn's Law, Workers Protection Act, etc.
•    IT systems competency and confidence with MS Office 365. 
•    Proficiency with CRMs and training specific administrative or development software; desirable. 
•    A holder of industry qualifications in, specific to security & risk, and/or training and development (MSc in International Security or equivalent, Lv3 or above in Education and Training, Lv4 or above in Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice.
•    Strong industry networks, across academia, government, official bodies and industry affiliations (SyI, ASIS, etc), to be able to develop and maintain course literature to be as current as possible.
•    Familiarity with both security systems training (CCTV, Alarms etc) and academic courses (Risk Management, Investigations, Intelligence Management, etc)

 

Desirable Skills and Experience 

 

•    Holder of PSP, CPP or similar qualification, or familiar with learning content.
•    International training experience, or familiarity with overseas delivery, or working with overseas partners/clients.
•    Experience in delivering training solutions to meet neuro-divergent learners and other special educational needs.
•    Familiarity with AI solutions and generating business efficiencies through effective use of technology.
