Handyperson Job Description

Position Overview

Form part of a team to provide a high level of maintenance support to assist Mitie in meeting its contractual obligations. This role is working on a shift pattern (7am-3pm followed by a week of 2pm-10pm). The successful candidate will need to pass a DBS prior to starting the role. You will be entitled to a shift allowance. The role will cover predominantly the Royal Victoria Hospital but cover at Freeman hospital may be required. Both hospitals are located in Newcastle.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all day-to-day planned preventative maintenance are completed in line with our contractual obligations.
  • Ensure all plant and equipment are maintained in accordance with the O&M manuals, best practice and relevant guidelines/legislation.
  • Assist in supervising subcontractors and monitor SSOW, policies and procedures.
  • Respond to all reactive calls in line with our contractual time scales, complete job sheets, reports and documentation as required.
  • Work safely at all times in accordance with SSOW, policies and procedures.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Professional approach and image must be adhered to at all times.
  • Keep all plant/rooms / services enclosures clean, tidy safe and secure.
  • Undertake any ad-hoc duties that may be necessary during the course of your working shift.
  • Be aware of the business continuity plan for the part of the business you work in.

Duties

 

  • To perform any task within their experience and capability and shall include any of the under mentioned tasks.
  • Carry out various minor maintenance duties.
  • React to breakdown maintenance requests.
  • Undertake routine plant checks.
  • Undertake general cleaning duties as required.
  • Assist other maintenance personnel where necessary.
  • Work safely and in accordance with company Health and Safety procedures.
  • Help maintain accurate estates records and plant history.
  • Deal with new situations as they arise
  • Pass on working knowledge as required
  • Undertake training as required

  • The post holder will have an obligation to undertake where necessary, training to ensure the level of competency is upheld
  • To be fully aware of and adhere to the relevant policies and procedures.
