ROLE: Grid Compliance Manager
HOURS: 40 Hours (Monday to Friday)
LOCATION: UK Wide with travel to office/client sites 1-2 days a week

At Mitie, our people are our greatest strength, and our promise is to create a place to work where you can thrive and be your best every day.

Mitie Power & Grid brings together three ICP business units—G2 Energy, ESM Power, and Rock Power Connections—alongside Custom Solar, the UK's leading behind-the-meter solar PV installer. With over 400 specialist professionals across our ICP and solar teams—and access to thousands more engineering experts within Mitie—we are one of the UK's largest and most experienced providers of grid connection and renewable energy services. We offer a comprehensive suite of specialist services across grid application, design, equipment procurement, installation, testing, commissioning and ongoing operations and maintenance. Our focus is on supporting decarbonisation through projects including utility-scale solar, wind, battery energy storage (BESS), and EV infrastructure.

We're looking for a Grid Compliance Manager who will lead Mitie's grid compliance strategy across transmission and distribution connections, ensuring all projects meet relevant engineering and regulatory standards.

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead the grid compliance framework for Mitie Power & Grid, including policy, processes, templates, and audit readiness.
  • Maintain project‑specific Compliance Matrices (Type A/B/C/D) covering design, test plans, evidence, and sign‑off.
  • Chair compliance reviews and “Design for Compliance” gate meetings aligned with CDM and quality management.
  • Act as the main technical liaison with NGESO, Transmission System Owners (TSOs), DNOs/IDNOs, and ICPs.
  • Manage consents and agreements including Connection Offers, BCAs, testing approvals, and operational declarations.
  • Represent Mitie in industry forums and consultations, translating regulatory changes into delivery practice.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of compliance activities, correspondence, approvals, and evidence.
  • Prepare and submit compliance reports, risk assessments, and mitigation plans as required.
  • Track and report grid compliance milestones against project timelines.
  • Scope, conduct, or oversee power system studies up to 400 kV, including load flow, short‑circuit, protection coordination, harmonics (G5/5), flicker (P28), voltage unbalance (P29), dynamic stability, RoCoF, and model validation.
  • Oversee EMT and phasor studies using tools such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSSE, ETAP, and PSCAD.
  • Prepare specifications for external study providers when required and manage those providers.
  • Review, validate, and sign off study results to ensure compliance with DNO/TSO requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong technical expertise in grid compliance, power system studies, and UK Grid Code / ENA EREC G99/G100 requirements.
  • Experience working with DNOs, TSOs, NGESO, or ICPs on grid‑connected generation, storage, or demand systems.
  • Ability to produce and review complex engineering studies and documentation to a high technical standard.
  • Excellent stakeholder‑management skills, including technical engagement with external organisations.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage compliance documentation and project milestones
  • Hold a Full UK Driving License
