Mitie Fire & Rescue Service (MFRS) are looking for a dedicated and experienced Structural Firefighter to join our team at Ascension Island, supporting both the Ascension Island Base (formerly RAF Ascension Island) and the Ascension Island Government (AIG) estate. 

Your Role 

• Respond to emergency calls for firefighting and rescue operations, including structural fires, road traffic incidents, and other emergencies. 
• Maintain operational readiness of fire vehicles, rescue equipment, and fire safety infrastructure. 
• Deliver fire safety awareness training to Mitie staff, contractors, HM Forces, MoD civilians, and Crown Servants. 
• Support the Duty Watch/Crew Manager and report to the Fire Station Manager (FSM). 
• Ensure compliance with Mitie standards and Defence Fire & Rescue regulatory requirements. 

What You'll Bring 

Essential: 

• Qualified Firefighter trained to UK MoD (Defence Fire & Rescue) standards or equivalent (e.g., RAF, Local Authority Fire & Rescue, or UK Civil Aviation Authority RFFS CAT 3+). 
• Current Operational Breathing Apparatus Wearer Assessment (opBAWA) or UK equivalent. 
• Full, clean UK Driving Licence (LGV Class C). 
• Eligible for BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) clearance. 

Desirable: 

• Valid First Aid at Work certificate. 
• Emergency Response Driver (ERD) qualification. 
• IOSH Working Safely or equivalent. 
• BAFE (British Approvals for Fire Excellence) qualification. 
• Defence Fire Service qualifications.
