Job Title: Facilities Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Mitie in a pivotal role as a Facilities Manager on a prestigious Central Government contract. You will oversee both hard and soft services, including cleaning, across a dynamic portfolio of 10–12 sites in Southeast Wales ranging from Barry to Chepstow. This is an opportunity to lead, innovate, and ensure exceptional service delivery.

As the Facilities Manager, you will manage onsite teams to encourage teamwork and achieve goals, develop and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders, subcontractors and suppliers. You will deliver services efficiently, meeting deadlines, budgets and contractual requirements, whilst tracking control costs related to staffing, suppliers and subcontractors to meet financial goals.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Participate in site audits covering quality, health and safety, environmental standards, and financial checks.
  • Prepare and submit detailed management reports to stakeholders on time.
  • Organise tasks effectively to manage a demanding workload and address challenges.
  • Proactive work order management.

You will need at least two years of experience in facilities management or similar, with experience leading teams across different areas of service delivery. A recognised Health and Safety qualification, such as IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH, is required, along with confidence in using Microsoft Office tools like Word, Excel, and Outlook. Strong written and verbal communication skills are also essential, as well as the ability to stay organised, manage time effectively, and balance competing priorities. Experience in hiring team members, overseeing performance, and resolving workplace concerns, such as disciplinary or grievance matters, is also required.

Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (QMS) or prior experience working on public sector or government contracts would be beneficial.
