Role Purpose

The Enterprise Systems Designer leads the design and technical coordination of enterprise electronic security solutions for strategically important UK customers. The role develops solutions from concept and preliminary strategy through detailed design, approval, deployment and handover, while maintaining control of technical quality, stakeholder engagement, programme, resources and project finances.

Role Positioning and Scope

This is a senior technical design and project-delivery role supporting multiple concurrent projects across the UK. The post holder works independently and within multidisciplinary teams, acting as a design authority and escalation point across access control, CCTV/VMS, intruder detection, intercom and integrated security platforms. UK travel will be required to support customer meetings, surveys and delivery activities.

Systems Design

  • Lead the preparation of concept, preliminary and detailed electronic security designs in line with customer standards and approved design processes.
  • Interpret and apply customer-specific standards, specifications, policies and technical requirements.
  • Develop hardware specifications, system architectures, schematics, device layouts, network and integration requirements, installation details and technical schedules.
  • Confirm compatibility with current software releases, licences, firmware, infrastructure and manufacturer requirements.
  • Review and approve equipment selections and technical submissions against the agreed design and client standards.
  • Present proposed designs to customer teams, respond to technical challenges and secure formal design approval.
  • Maintain effective design document control, revision management, approval records and design decision logs.

Technical Integration and Assurance

  • Collaborate with applications teams, IT, cyber security, systems integrators, installers and commissioning engineers to translate approved designs into operational systems.
  • Define programming, integration, testing, commissioning and acceptance requirements.
  • Provide structured technical escalation and resolve design, interface and deployment issues.
  • Review testing evidence, as-built information and technical handover documentation for alignment with the approved design.
  • Monitor emerging technologies, manufacturer roadmaps and security trends, recommending proportionate enhancements.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable legislation, industry standards, codes of practice and company governance.

Project Delivery

  • Manage assigned projects from design through deployment, ensuring agreed scope, quality, programme and budget outcomes are achieved.
  • Maintain project plans, deliverable schedules, resource forecasts, risk registers, action logs and stakeholder reporting.
  • Manage contractor and systems-integrator performance, including quality, technical compliance, programme and risk.
  • Communicate directly with customers and lead technical, design and progress meetings.
  • Identify and escalate technical, operational, programme or commercial issues in line with internal governance while protecting the customer's and company's interests.
  • Work effectively across multiple UK projects and customer locations in a fast-paced delivery environment.

Commercial Management

  • Prepare fee proposals, scopes of work, assumptions, exclusions and technical deliverables.
  • Maintain accurate project and opportunity information within company systems.
  • Manage project budgets, forecast resource demand, monitor actual performance and control scope change.
  • Report clearly on project progress, risks, resourcing, fees, costs and forecasts to account managers and senior leadership.
  • Identify efficiencies, repeatable design standards and continuous-improvement opportunities.
