The role is responsible for providing technical leadership and operational oversight within the engineering team. Acting as the team's technical expert, the position ensures that all work complies with relevant industry standards, internal procedures, and the MITIE Maintenance Quality Management System. The role carries responsibility for reviewing quality checks through regular site visits and audits.
A key part of the position involves supervising and mentoring engineering staff, monitoring performance, and managing KPI scores and SLAs. This includes conducting annual reviews and appraisals, allocating tasks effectively, and prioritising workloads to ensure efficient service delivery. The role also supports competency management by ensuring all engineers maintain the required skills and certifications to fulfil their duties safely and effectively.
The position requires strong communication and client‑facing skills, including liaising with clients, providing technical updates, and delivering clear, professional reports. The role also manages essential operational tasks such as ordering materials, overseeing tool and PPE allocation, and maintaining appropriate stock levels.
Health and Safety is a core responsibility, ensuring the team adheres to the company's policies and safe working practices. This includes organising routine and random Drug & Alcohol testing in line with company requirements.
In addition, the role supports the Account Manager with a variety of ad hoc project work, which may involve budgeting, resource planning, and the development of work schedules.
Overall, this position plays a vital role in maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and performance while fostering a collaborative, positive, and innovative team environment.
