Role Objectives
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Energy and Sustainability Manager to provide a complete and comprehensive energy and sustainability management service across both University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire, Coventry and Hospital St. Cross, Rugby. Your role is pivotal in ensuring the service we provide is driven by our core purpose: enhancing patient care and experience. Your commitment to excellence will ensure that our facilities not only meet but exceed expectations, ultimately contributing to a positive and supportive healthcare experience.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in energy and sustainability management, particularly within healthcare facilities, with sound knowledge of current Health, Safety, Environmental and Fire Legislation, Industry standards, Health Building Notes (HBNs) and Health Technical Memorandums (HTMs) and will be responsible for ensuring that a robust reporting system is maintained, up to date, and to the highest quality standards.
Main Duties
Energy Management
Sustainability – Collaborate closely with members of the PFI to develop and agree upon a comprehensive sustainability strategy that aligns with the specific constraints and requirements of the PFI contract. Focusing on achieving Net-Zero emissions and advancing decarbonisation efforts across the sites. Work in partnership with PFI stakeholders to identify feasible and impactful sustainability initiatives.
Environmental - Ensure strict compliance with environmental regulations, including DSEAR, ERIC, and PAM, to uphold the organisation's commitment to environmental responsibility.
-Maintain and update the Environmental Impact Register, ensuring that all records are current and accurately reflect the organisation's environmental impact.
• Understands contractual obligations and provides support to senior leadership team where needed.
• Communicates in an engaging way, ensuring inspiring and motivating messages are conveyed across all teams.
• Brings to life the Mitie values on a daily basis and demonstrates the exceptional every day.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills with strong attention to detail. Strong work ethic coupled with a “Can Do attitude”. Have the ability to prioritise tasks and maximum your time effectively to achieve results.
• Works across University Coventry sites to ensure consistency within the contract.
• Works safely at all times giving due consideration for the safety of others and the environment.
• Upholds and reflects the vision and values of Mitie in all actions and behaviours.
• Experience and understanding of various services within a healthcare environment
• Understands auditing goals, Service Level Agreement's (SLA's) and compliance objectives.
• Enthusiastic and Conscientious. Diligent and committed. A flexible approach, and "can do attitude" together with the ability to self-prioritise will be required.
• Has a strong standard of both literacy and numeracy skills.
• Possess an intermediate knowledge level of all Microsoft office packages. Fully competent in the use of computers and other types of technology.
• Has excellent written, verbal communication and negotiation skills to support them in their role.
• Fully capable of understanding and maintaining the confidentiality across the site and respecting the needs of all employees and stakeholders.
• Works well under pressure to meet the challenging deadlines for both compliance and people aspects of their roles.
• Has the ability to effectively plan and manage own workloads, however, understands when to ask for support when needed.
• A team player with the ability to lead by example through operational excellence, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact at all levels.
• Collaboration with operational and functional colleagues within Mitie Communities and also across wider Mitie.
• Always represents Mitie and the client in a professional, courteous and confident manner.
• A full UK driving licence.
• Possess or willing to achieve QMS ISOI 9001:2015 Internal Auditor and Level 3 Award in Education and Training (PTLLS).
• Willingness to undertake relevant qualifications in Health, Safety and Environmental.
