Are you a qualified Electrician looking for a unique overseas opportunity?

We are looking for an Electrician (Maintenance) to join our team supporting the British Forces South Atlantic Islands (BFSAI) estate in the Falkland Islands. Working within the Electrical Maintenance Team, you will be responsible for delivering planned preventative maintenance, electrical installations, inspections, testing, fault finding, and reactive repairs across a diverse portfolio of technical and domestic facilities.

What You'll Be Doing

Working as part of the Electrical Maintenance Team, you will:

  • Undertake electrical installation, maintenance, inspection, testing and repair of low voltage systems across the MOD estate.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on electrical equipment and installations.
  • Maintain, repair and test hazardous area systems, catering equipment and fire alarm systems.
  • Diagnose faults and undertake remedial works to ensure assets remain safe, compliant and operational.
  • Work from electrical drawings, installation diagrams, circuit diagrams and line schematics.
  • Modify and update technical drawings where required to maintain accurate records.
  • Deliver high-quality work first time, minimising rework and operational disruption.
  • Advise management and clients on ageing electrical equipment and replacement requirements to maintain safety and compliance.
  • Work towards qualifying for, and maintaining, entry on the Skilled Persons Register.
  • Organise workloads effectively to maximise productivity and minimise downtime.
  • Complete work dockets, labour records and maintenance documentation accurately and on time.
  • Respond to emergency call-outs and operational requirements when required.
  • Support wider maintenance and infrastructure activities as directed by the management team.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • BS7671 18th Edition qualification or equivalent.
  • City & Guilds Electrical Installation qualification or equivalent.
  • BS2391 Inspection and Testing qualification or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Permit to Work systems.
  • Experience in electrical installation and maintenance of low voltage systems.
  • Strong understanding of testing, inspection, fault finding and remedial works.
  • Ability to read and interpret installation drawings, circuit diagrams and line schematics.
  • Good working knowledge of health and safety legislation.
  • Full driving licence with the ability to transfer and use it overseas.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Desirable

  • IOSH Managing Safely qualification.
  • City & Guilds Certificate in Design, Installation, Commissioning and Certification of Fire Alarm and Emergency Lighting Systems (or equivalent).
  • Authorised Person (Electrical) experience.
  • Completion of a recognised electrical apprenticeship.
  • Experience working within a Ministry of Defence environment.
  • Experience working overseas or in remote locations.
  • Experience within building services, facilities management, Defence or similar engineering environments.
