Job Overview

Job purpose

To carry out routine maintenance and respond to breakdowns as directed by the Maintenance Manager or Site Manager, with specific responsibility for ELV and LV electrical systems and associated equipment.

 

Please note: Candidates must be willing to go through the DV Clearance process. Before this clearance is confirm they will be unable to start within the role.

Applying candidates must be a holder of a British Passport, otherwise the clearance will not pass.

Responsibilities

  • Offer a prompt and professional response to the Client to ensure the building systems and plan remain in full operation
  • Responsible for carrying out electrical installation work, PAT Testing and assisting with electrical safety testing
  • Undertake planned and reactive works
  • Provide support to the Maintenance Manager
  • Undertake other duties over and above those required of this role, within reason, as directed by the Maintenance Manager or Site Manager
  • Partake in the Out-of-Hours on call service rota (1 in 3)
  • Respond to building management system alarms, and effect emergency repairs as needed.
  • Issue and ensure appropriate controls within the permit to work systems.
  • Ensure that suitable spares are available to carry out repairs and maintenance of the above plant.
  • Ensure that comprehensive maintenance records are kept in the form of “MAXIMO” task sheets.
  • Ensure that method statements and risk assessments are prepared for all tasks carried out to ensure safe working practices.
  • Ensure that engineering subcontractors are appropriately supervised and comply with contractual commitments.
  • To develop a good working relationship with all Mitie staff and client's staff.
  • Ensure the provision of a safe and healthy working environment, and ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures, as well as client site policies, procedures and working arrangements as required.
  • Ensure a professional image of Mitie is presented to clients and visitors and ensure excellence in customer service is delivered and always promoted.
  • Ensure that professional and technical skills are maintained at all times.

Knowledge and experience (Essential)

  • Working to planned preventative maintenance regimes.
  • Fault finding on basic electrical circuits.
  • Knowledge of lone working requirements.
  • Risk Assessment trained.
  • Experience or general building management systems.
  • Installation of electrical services.
  • Electrical testing to BS7671.
  •  

Essential qualifications :-

  • AM2 (or equivalent time served electrical qualification).
  • Knowledge/experience of working to BS7671
  • C&G 2391 or equivalent experience of electrical testing and inspection#.
  •  

Desirable qualifications :-

  • 17th/18th Edition Regulations
  • C&G 2330, 2360,2365 or any other electrical based qualifications.
  • GCSE Maths & English or equivalent.
  • Able to acquire and maintain sufficient knowledge of a building's operation and services.
  • Able to work outside of discipline, although within competence and QSHE.

  • The ability to liaise with directly with client building users and action their requirements to agreed standards.
  • Able to work under pressure.
  • Able to make sound decisions when needed.
  • Able to carry tools and components of up to 20kg.
