Mitie proudly supports the UK Armed Forces as the Hard FM contractor for the MOD estate in the Falkland Islands. Our team of 150 professionals keeps essential services running across accommodation, airfields, and more. 

We are looking for a for a skilled and experienced Heating System Supervisor to oversee the routine operation and maintenance of industrial boiler equipment, district heating substations, and outstation boiler plant systems across the Mount Pleasant Complex. 

This is a hands-on supervisory role, ideal for someone with a strong mechanical engineering background and a passion for delivering high standards in planned and reactive maintenance. 

Your Role 

• Supervise and carry out the operation and maintenance of the District Heating System (DHS). 
• Manage 5x Cochran boilers and associated Medium Temperature Hot Water (MTHW) systems. 
• Maintain outstation boilers and the MPC steam laundry plant equipment. 
• Coordinate and conduct planned preventative maintenance, statutory testing, and reactive repairs. 
• Support the Authorised Person (AP) Mechanical with system isolations and permit-to-work procedures. 
• Ensure compliance with Mitie and MoD safety and operational standards. 
• Participate in the on-call rota for out-of-hours support. 
• Assist in the development of risk assessments, method statements, and annual maintenance planning. 
• Maintain accurate records and job documentation. 

What You'll Bring 

• GCSEs or equivalent. 
• Approved apprenticeship in mechanical engineering. 
• BOAS certification (Boiler Operator Accreditation Scheme). 
• Mechanical AP qualification (or willingness to obtain). 
• Willingness to train as AP for DAVS (Dental Compressed Air and Vacuum Systems). 
• Proven supervisory experience in a similar role. 
• Hands-on experience with Cochran boilers or similar systems. 
• Familiarity with Siemens TIA Portal software (v15.1 preferred). 
• Experience working in MoD or overseas environments is advantageous. 
• Strong initiative and ability to work independently or as part of a team. 
• Knowledge of steam-generating and MTHW boiler systems. 
• Flexible, enthusiastic, and able to work under pressure. 
• Full UK driving licence.
