Shift Pattern: Saturday to Sunday, 06:00 - 18:00 (10hrs per day)

Job objectives and responsibilities


• Leads on menu development, service offer and environment. Develops fit for purpose solutions across the business.
• Delivers and develops the service for Mitie Healthcare, taking ownership and acting promptly to get things done whilst demonstrating a commitment to high quality standards
• Responsible for achieving the targets budgeted and exceeds these targets where possible.
• Plans meals and menus, theme days and special offers to provide adequate information to patients.
• Supervisors act as quality control, ensuring customer satisfaction through training employees properly and adhering to company policy.
• Supervises, encourages and supports employees, ensures company standards are met. Directs the employees through their daily routines and interacts with customers to make sure that they have an exceptional experience.
• Ensures food is correctly and safely prepared in line with the HACCP regulations
• Manages inventory of supplies to support all stock controls protocols
• Ensures compliance with all Food safety requirements.
• Ensures all policies and procedures are strictly adhered to. Takes reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and others.
• Delivers budgeted profit and turnover for areas of responsibility. Assists with the development and control of the contract budgets ensuring margin expectations are clear.
• Measures and establishes appropriate targets and objectives, and analyses, appraises and interprets

.Performance for the contract in line with set criteria agreed by the patient catering manager.
• Organises, divides, and delegates/distributes workload into manageable activities, dependant on expertise/area of focus whilst tracking completion levels to successfully achieve the desired milestones.
• Sets objectives and goals for the team and what the next steps/ priorities are to meet those goals.


Main duties


• Complies with requirements for Mitie Healthcare
• Identified training requirements of the catering operation and administers the appropriate level of training required through effective collaboration with the Training manager.
• Ensures that COSHH, HACCP and QHSE regulations are adhered to by the team.
• Understands and adheres to proper food handling, safety and sanitation standards during food preparation, service and clean up
• Costing and nutritionally evaluating meals and menus to offer balanced and varied options
• Ensure all allergen information is displayed and available to all customers for each product produced on site
• Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
• Ensures all food is stored safely and at the correct legal temperatures.
• Ensures specified lines of communication are followed always, with attention to escalation and problem reporting.
• Ensures that all colleagues are trained in accordance with clients and companies requirements meeting both hard & soft needs
• Uses initiative to identity talented colleagues across their teams and site to ensure they are developed/supported through their career aspirations and building a pipeline of successors.
• Utilises the internal HR systems, people support services and guidance to promote best practice and enable their people management accountabilities.
• Ensures that all payroll and absence management process are effectively controlled to minimise disruptions and impacting on engagement levels.
• Ensure a comprehensive cost analysis is planned and deployed for all menus, ordering for catering and receipt/storage of all goods.
• Ensuring the highest customer service standards are met and addresses any service failures in a timely manner.
• Ensures all staff and business units fully adhere to company retail brand, promotions, etc
• Follows the Company's QHSE procedures within the course of their role and ensures that the Team are performing their duties within the guidelines always.
• Undertakes additional duties in line with capabilities as required to fulfil requirements needed by the contract
• Responsible for ensuring there are adequate staffing levels across the department in-line with contract specification and demand
• Plans, allocates and evaluates work carried out by individuals, teams and self & provides and organises information for action
• Ensures that all colleagues are trained in accordance with clients and companies requirements meeting both hard & soft needs.
• Communicates in an engaging way, ensuring inspiring and motivating messages are conveyed across all teams.
• Effectively resources the team in line with business requirements and takes a proactive approach through business forecasting.
• Manages performance management for the entire team, ensuring there are mireviews completed for all team members with clear next steps
• Uses initiative to identity talented colleagues across their teams and site to ensure they are developed/supported through their career aspirations and building a pipeline of successors.
• Ensures that engagement action plans are brought to & kept alive across the entire team, creating a positive environment that contributes to making Mitie a great place to work.
• Utilises the internal HR systems, people support services and guidance to promote best practice and enable their people management accountabilities.
• Ensures that all payroll and absence management process are effectively controlled to minimise disruptions and impacting on engagement levels.
• Fully responsible for purchases and stock control. Develops processes to ensure all service provisions are captured and billed correctly
• Coaches & develops their teams to be the best they can be at work enabling them to achieve their full potential.
• Brings to life the Mitie values daily ensuring they & their teams demonstrate the exceptional everyday.
• Leads on all employee formal meetings, such as any employee relations topics, restructuring, TUPE or any other consultations.

Person Specification


• Strong creativity skills with an ability to think beyond their processes & procedures with a passion for driving high standards, within their environment.
• Has a strong standard of both literacy and numeracy skills
• They possess an intermediate knowledge level of all Microsoft office packages. Fully competent in the use of PCs and other types of technology
• Has developed excellent written, verbal communication and negotiation skills to support them in their role.
• Fully capable of understanding and maintaining the confidentiality across the site and respecting the needs of all stakeholders.
• Works well under pressure to meet the challenging deadlines for both operational and people aspects of their roles.
• Can effectively plan and manage own workloads, however understands when to ask for support when needed.
• A team player with the ability to lead by example through operational excellence, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact at all levels.
• Demonstrates forward thinking/planning, with a positive 'can do' attitude and can flex their style to meet the needs of the business
• Strong financial acumen with the ability to manage costs and ensure budgets are met
• Represents Mitie and the client always in a professional, courteous and confident manner
• Uses effective communication to ensure teams are well equipped across the entire Healthcare business unit.
Health and Safety responsibilities
• Follow Group and company policies and procedures always;
• Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment provided that may result in failure of service delivery or risk to health and safety or the environment;
• Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training received;
• Report any issues or training needs to your Line manager and /or via your divisional incident reporting system;
