Job Objectives and Responsibilities 
The Site Supervisor will represent the interests of both Mitie and the client by ensuring the project coordination, communication, and the quality of materials and workmanship meet the project requirements. The role includes overseeing Health and Safety (H&S) during the construction/works phases, with a combination of in-hours and out-of-hours work. The Site Supervisor will induct operatives, coordinate welfare arrangements, and identify, and manage potential safety hazards on-site, with a focus on eliminating them. They will conduct regular site inspections, implement safety programmes, and work closely with third-party site managers/supervisors. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Liaise with site management to delegate tasks to the team. 
  • Perform assigned duties on-site as directed. 
  • Ensure work is carried out according to industry health and safety standards. 
  • Safeguard the safety of all site users, visitors, staff, and contractors. 
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies following established procedures; prepare and submit accident reports. 
  • Collaborate with the Contract Manager and Business Manager to plan and programme contract works, including forward planning. 
  • Ensure subcontractors complete and review Safe Plans of Action/dynamic risk assessments as necessary. 
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and monitor construction and site safety. 
  • Identify and address issues daily to prevent budget overruns. 
  • Motivate the workforce and maintain effective working relationships. 
  • Ensure compliance with statutory regulations regarding health and safety, fire safety, and maintain accurate records. 
  • Maintain and monitor quality control procedures. 
  • Monitor ongoing construction work to ensure adherence to schedules and quality standards. 
  • Ensure strict adherence to Health & Safety standards. 
  • Produce documentation and progress reports for the Project Manager. 

Person Specification: 

  • A recognised Project Management qualification is preferred. 
  • Must hold a valid driving licence and possess a vehicle. 
  • Willingness to work towards additional relevant qualifications, including a valid CSCS card or SSSTS Certificate. 
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions accurately. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel). 
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn on the job. 
  • Strong customer relationship management skills. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. 
  • Ability to work across functions and within a matrixed organisation. 
  • Flexible approach to working hours (70% of work expected to be out-of-hours). 
  • Ability to synthesise large volumes of data and summarise key points. 
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and adapt to changing circumstances. 
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills. 
  • Well-organised with excellent time management, able to thrive in a pressured environment.

Health and Safety Responsibilities 

  • Follow all Group and company policies and procedures at all times. 
  • Report any deficiencies in work systems or equipment that could result in service failure or pose a risk to health, safety, or the environment. 
  • Use work equipment and personal PPE properly, following training protocols. 
  • Report any training needs or issues to your Line Manager or via the divisional incident reporting system.
