Communications Manager – HMP Millsike

Job Objectives and Responsibilities

Are you a strategic communicator with a passion for engagement? We're seeking an Internal Communications Manager to drive the ‘One Millsike' Communication Strategy at HMP Millsike, ensuring clear, consistent messaging for both staff and prisoners.

You'll lead the creation and delivery of internal communication plans, manage content across multiple channels, and keep employees connected to the wider Mitie organisation. From staff meetings and digital platforms like SharePoint and Viva Engage to live events and newsletters, you'll ensure communications are engaging and effective.

Proficiency with M365 tools, including MS Teams, SharePoint, and Canva, is essential. You'll also evaluate communication effectiveness through surveys and reviews, promote wellbeing initiatives, and support a restorative workplace culture.

Collaboration is key—you'll work with senior leaders, wellbeing teams, and community partners to deliver impactful messaging and build strong internal and external relationships.

If you're ready to make a meaningful impact through communication, we'd love to hear from you.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate sound judgement, confidentiality, and integrity. They will have experience leading internal communications in a large organisation and working closely with senior leaders to support staff engagement.

A good understanding of safeguarding in complex environments is essential, along with hands-on experience managing SharePoint intranets and using digital tools to boost employee engagement.

Strong written communication skills are key, with the ability to tailor messages for different audiences. The role requires someone who can manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting and is confident using Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
