Job Title: Cleaning Operative
Pay Rate: £12.60 per hour  
Contract: Permanent, Part Time
Hours: 20 hours per week 
Shift Pattern: Monday - Thursday 17:00 - 21:00, Fridays 15:00 - 19:00 - 20 hours per week 
Location: GSK, Harmire Road, Barnard Castle, County Durham, England, DL12 8DT 

Job objectives and responsibilities

To be responsible for the cleaning and servicing of areas, as allocated by the cleaning and management team, to the standard required by the client and Mitie, efficiently and professionally.

Main duties

The main duties of this role include carrying out any and all cleaning duties as requested by the Team Leader or management team. All tasks must be performed in a professional manner, strictly adhering to safe systems of work and relevant risk assessments. The correct personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times as specified. The role requires full compliance with all statutory GSK and Mitie Health and Safety rules and regulations, as well as GSK and Mitie security regulations concerning cleaning materials, equipment, and buildings. A high standard of personal performance, hygiene, and appearance is expected at all times. Employees are also required to keep their GSK myLearning up to date and complete tasks within the assigned time frames.

All complaints, incidents, accidents, fires, thefts, losses, damages, or any other irregularities must be reported and acted upon where practicable. The role involves undertaking all required training related to all aspects of the cleaning service and completing a schedule of cleaning tasks as directed by the Team Leader or Deputy Team Leader. Adherence to all Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) requirements, as specified by the Team Leader or Deputy Team Leader, is essential. Any faults related to cleaning machinery or equipment must be reported to the Team Leader or Deputy Team Leader, and all building defects should be reported to the Mitie Helpdesk. The role may also require fulfilling any other reasonable requests made by the Team Leader or Deputy Team Leader. Additionally, near misses must be reported following the correct procedure, and employees are expected to follow the proper absence reporting procedure when phoning in sick.

Person specification

The ideal candidate will preferably have previous cleaning experience. They should be a good team player with a flexible approach to the working environment, as they may be asked to provide cover in other areas when required. A good level of English language proficiency is essential to ensure the understanding of instructions, safety signs, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Health and Safety-related training.
