Job Title: Cleaning Operative
Rate of Pay: £13.15 per hour
Contract Type: Permanent, Part Time
Hours: 14 hours per week (Saturday to Sunday- 9AM to 5PM)

Job objectives and responsibilities
To assist with the presentation, service and cleaning of the ward and other hospital areas and equipment to the company, client and guests satisfaction. To enhance the sense of well-being of all patients.
Main Duties
The main duties of the role include ensuring the cleanliness and tidiness of the unit at all times, as reasonably practical. The candidate will prepare service areas with the necessary equipment and ensure that the service meets ward SLA requirements, recording details where necessary. Providing exceptional service to patients is a key responsibility, alongside performing general and specific cleaning duties in accordance with established cleaning schedules. Maintaining high standards of personal hygiene as outlined in the Health and Safety manual is essential. The role requires carrying out duties in any department as needed, including cleaning associated with those areas, and assisting other local units for personal development or during staff shortages. Any complaints, compliments, incidents such as accidents, near misses, fires, theft, loss, damage, or other irregularities must be reported promptly to the Patient Meal Supervisors or the Patient Meal Catering Manager. Attendance at all mandatory meetings and training courses is required to support the improvement of operations and personal development. Compliance with all MITIE policies and procedures as detailed in the MITIE Catering operations manual and Employee Handbooks is mandatory. The candidate must be aware of and adhere to legal and company regulations relating to health and safety, HACCP, food hygiene, sales of goods/trades description, employment law, fire regulations, HR procedures, and training guidelines. Setting a professional example at all times and maintaining teamwork and good ethics with colleagues and supervisors is expected. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn as required when carrying out specific duties, following the MITIE Health and Safety Manual. The candidate should also take immediate action to correct any unsafe conditions encountered.

The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator, able to interact easily with both customers and team members. They should demonstrate enthusiasm to learn and be actively engaged in their job, showing diligence and commitment. Good timekeeping and punctuality are essential, as is being a reliable team player. Additionally, the candidate should possess strong organisational skills to effectively manage their responsibilities.

Health and Safety Responsibilities:

They must report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment that could lead to service delivery failure or pose risks to health, safety, or the environment.
