POST TITLE: Healthcare Cleaner

RESPONSIBLE TO:

JOB REQUIREMENTS: To be responsible for all duties and cleaning duties as allocated by the Cleaning Supervisor and the Services Manager.  To work in conjunction with UHD Trust staff in order to maintain a clean and safe environment. You will be part of the cleaning department involved in keeping a high level of cleanliness throughout the hospital environment to help with infection control requirements.

 

This job description is not exhaustive and other duties and responsibilities of a similar level and nature may be required from time to time.

The post holder will be required to be flexible in their working hours as they will be expected to provide cover for their colleagues during annual leave and sick leave.

 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES/KEY RESULTS AREAS:

 

  1. To have a full knowledge of all areas of work to be covered in the course of duty in compliance with statutory guidelines and regulations.
  2. To ensure that only correct cleaning materials are used on site and for the correct purposes as defined in training programmes.
  3. To ensure the highest standards of cleanliness are maintained in line with current legislation and contractual requirements.
  4. To attend appropriate training sessions as instructed by line manager and company policies.
  5. To be polite, friendly and helpful at all times and to always attempt to improve on existing standards of work.
  6. To act upon client comments and requests only in line with company policies.
  7. To be prepared at all times to assist your colleagues and move from one activity to another within your overall remit.
  8. To be responsive to the need to work extended hours to meet business needs.
  9. To demonstrate a willing and positive manner.
  10. To demonstrate a clear and effective alignment with the operational objectives and the commercial interests of Mitie Facilities Management Ltd.
  11. To maintain the highest standard of personal hygiene in line with the Mitie Hygiene Code of Practice.

         

COMMUNICATION:

  • Communicate with colleagues and general public

 

AUTONOMY:

  • Post holder would receive regular guidance and instruction from their line manager.
  • Work will be monitored on a regular basis

 

ENVIRONMENT:

  • Post holder will be required to work with substances controlled under COSHH regulations
  • Role may require post holder to work in temperatures below 8˚ centigrade or above 20˚ centigrade
  • Role requires manual handling

 

HEALTH & SAFETY:

The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and amendments state it is the responsibility of all employees to comply with Health and Safety Law.  The post holder will be required to attend all statutory Health and Safety training.

 

The post holder is required to comply with the Company's Health & Safety strategy, policy and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy environment for employees, visitors, service users, contractors and others.  The post holder must

comply with the designated levels of responsibility as detailed within the Poole Hospital contract, Health and Safety Plan.

 

 LOCATION:

The post holder may be required to work at other Mitie locations from time to time.  Reasonable notice of any such changes will be provided.

Patients and/or staff information is confidential.  It is a condition of employment that the post holder will not use or disclose any confidential information obtained during the course of their duties.  Nor will they discuss any information with their families, friends, colleagues or any other party outside the working environment at any time.
