Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Civils Operative to join our team, supporting the delivery of civil works. The successful candidate will support a contract team in the provision of a high-quality general maintenance service, ensuring the upkeep of areas, carrying out a range of civil tasks including excavation, ducting, concreting, reinstatement, and general civil building fabric duties in line with health and safety standards and project specifications.

 

Main Duties

  • Carry out general maintenance and repairs to a designated building, its fabric, fixtures and fittings, as requested by the customer and/or Mitie contract management team, maintaining internal and external premises and surrounds.
  • Liaise with Mitie contract management team on the day to day running of the building the reporting of issues relating to operation and appearance.
  • Carry out routine checks on plant and equipment to ensure optimum conditions are achieved.
  • Painting and decorating as agreed and directed by management.
  • Ad hoc building maintenance.
  • Accountable for communicating the status of work to both the customer and Mitie contract management team.
  • Maintain high standards of personal performance, hygiene appearance and attitude at all times.
  • Carry out groundworks including trenching, excavation, duct laying, and reinstatement.
  • Assist with installation of infrastructure such as drainage systems, kerbing, and concrete bases.
  • Operate tools and machinery including compactors, breakers, and mini-diggers
  • Follow site plans and instructions from supervisors and engineers.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety procedures at all times.
  • Conduct pre-start checks and basic maintenance of tools and equipment.
  • Support the delivery of quality work in line with project timelines.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

 

What we are looking for

  • Previous experience as a multi-skilled civil operative in a customer-facing environment would be desirable
  • Physical / Dexterity for manual handling accountabilities.
  • Experience and skills within grounds works/ maintenance and working at height.
  • Basic computer knowledge would be expected.
  • Basic ground works knowledge.
  • Flexible/Adaptable approach to work.
  • Friendly and approachable manner, with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work on their own with minimal supervision.
  • CSCS Required.
  • IPAF Required.
  • Previous experience in a similar civils or groundworks role.
  • Ability to read and interpret site drawings is an advantage.
  • CPCS or NPORS for plant/machinery
  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • A proactive, safety-conscious approach to work
