Overview

Join our team as a Civil Design Engineer, where you'll lead the design of civil infrastructure for electrical projects (11kV–132kV). From tender support to detailed design and construction handover, you'll ensure high-quality, compliant, and cost-effective solutions. This role also involves mentoring, collaboration with contractors, and contributing to business development.

Key Responsibilities

Tender Stage:
Provide civil design input and produce preliminary drawings for foundations, bunds, and bases.

Detailed Design:

    • Interpret ground investigation reports and remediation needs.
    • Deliver civil designs for equipment foundations, drainage, earthworks, fencing, and site layouts.
    • Prepare specifications, structural calculations, and temporary works drawings.
    • Upload contestable designs to DNO portals and manage feedback.

Collaboration & Quality:

    • Liaise with contractors, consultants, and structural engineers.
    • Review and check designs by others.
    • Support construction teams with design interpretation.
    • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team development.

 

Requirements

  • Degree/HND in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of civil design experience, ideally in electrical infrastructure.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD; 3D modelling experience is a plus.
  • Experience using Tekla TEDDS software.
  • Use of Civils 3D to produce cut & fill/ earthworks drawings (desirable).
  • Strong communication skills and client-facing confidence.
  • Self-driven with the ability to work independently.
  • Full UK driving licence.
