Are you an experienced engineering or aviation professional looking for a unique overseas opportunity?

We are looking for a Technical Assurance Supervisor (TAS) to support the safe, compliant, and effective delivery of airfield operations and technical services on Ascension Island. Working within a highly operational environment, you will play a key role in maintaining engineering standards, assuring service quality, supporting aircraft operations, and leading technical compliance activities across multiple departments.

This is a rare opportunity to combine technical leadership, operational responsibility, and a rewarding overseas lifestyle while supporting a strategically important military and aviation operation.

What You'll Be Doing

Reporting to the Airfield Operations Manager (AOM), you will:

  • Ensure airfield engineering standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements are implemented and maintained.
  • Support the safe and efficient delivery of aircraft movements and associated airfield activities.
  • Maintain technical documentation in line with CAA, MAA, MoD, JSP, TDOL, and manufacturer requirements.
  • Manage and assure compliance within the Ground Equipment Section (GES), Motor Transport Mechanical Section (MTMS), and Visiting Aircraft Handling Section (VAHS).
  • Maintain the equipment management system (JAMES), carrying out inspections and compliance checks.
  • Monitor the quality of maintenance and engineering activities across the airhead.
  • Coordinate training requirements and development plans for technical personnel.
  • Conduct audits and support external inspections.
  • Provide technical advice and assurance to operational management.
  • Deputise for GES and MTMS Supervisors when required.
  • Oversee the VAHS department and conduct annual staff appraisals.
  • Support maintenance, servicing, fault diagnosis, and repair activities on Ground Support Equipment (GSE), vehicles, boats, and associated equipment.
  • Support supply, FIRS operations, ship-to-shore transfers, and pipeline maintenance activities when required.
  • Provide updates on Mission Critical equipment status and immediately escalate serviceability concerns.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Experience working within a mechanical, electrical, engineering, maintenance, or workshop environment.
  • Understanding of technical compliance and quality assurance processes.
  • Familiarity with aerodrome operations and military aviation procedures.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to engage confidently with colleagues, managers, military personnel, and stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
  • Full, clean HGV driving licence.

Desirable

  • Military engineering or aviation engineering background.
  • Experience within MoD, defence, aviation, or airfield environments.
  • TG5 JNCO or above, or equivalent civilian supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of MAA, CAA, JSP, and MoD technical regulations.
  • Experience using engineering asset management systems such as JAMES.

Personal Qualities

  • Safety focused and compliance driven.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
  • Practical and hands-on approach to problem solving.
  • Flexible and adaptable to operational demands.
  • Willing to undertake a varied role, including physically demanding tasks.
  • Able to work and thrive in a remote island environment.
