ROLE: Site Manager (FM Projects)
HOURS: Full-Time
LOCATION: BAE Systems, Samlesbury & Warton

At Mitie, our people are our greatest strength, and our promise is to create a place to work where you can thrive and be your best every day. We're looking for a Site Manager to join our Facilities Management Projects team, supporting the successful delivery of projects across BAE Systems' sites in Samlesbury and Warton. This is a fast-paced role where you'll be responsible for managing external contractors, ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation, and supporting the embedded Mitie Project Management team to deliver projects safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily activities of external contractors, ensuring work is completed in line with project plans, inductions, schedules and site requirements.
  • Manage contractor activities through robust health and safety and CDM processes, including reviewing and approving RAMS to ensure they are suitable and sufficient.
  • Prepare, maintain and implement Construction Phase Plans (CPPs) and ensure works are properly planned, authorised and controlled.
  • Act as an Authorised Person for Permit to Work systems, managing, approving and signing off permits for high-risk activities.
  • Carry out regular site inspections, safety tours and observations to identify hazards, maintain compliance and drive a strong safety culture.
  • Coordinate closely with the Mitie Project Management team, contractors and key stakeholders to support project delivery and resolve issues promptly.
  • Monitor project progress, maintain accurate records and ensure all project documentation is managed in accordance with company requirements.
  • Inspect completed works to ensure compliance with specifications, quality standards and customer expectations.
  • Support contractor performance management, providing guidance, addressing issues and ensuring contractual obligations are met.
  • Contribute towards the successful completion of projects within agreed timescales while minimising disruption to operations.

Required Qualifications:

Applicants must meet the below defined requirements for the role.

  • Proven experience as a Site Manager or in a similar position within construction, facilities management or project management environments.
  • Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certification is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of CDM regulations, construction processes and health and safety legislation.
  • Experience reviewing RAMS, managing Permit to Work systems and overseeing contractor activities.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and contractors simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in the use of project management systems, software and reporting tools.
  • Temporary Works Co-ordinator qualification would be advantageous.

What's in it for you?

  • Opportunity to work on a diverse range of Facilities Management projects across a high-profile customer estate.
  • Be part of a supportive and experienced Mitie Project Management team delivering critical infrastructure projects.
  • Career development opportunities within one of the UK's leading facilities management organisations.
  • Work in a dynamic environment where safety, quality and continuous improvement are at the heart of everything we do.
  • Access to Mitie's employee benefits, wellbeing support and learning opportunities.
