Design Manager

The Design Manager is responsible for leading the design management of design and build projects from initial concept through to completion. This includes oversight of the entire design process through from concept, testing to signoff.

By stepping into this role you will responsible for managing activities across the pre-construction phase, construction phase, testing and commissioning. This includes:

Main Duties

• Management, coordination and leadership of the design teams input and close of activities through life cycle of the project.
• Ensuring technical compliance and accuracy across a range of projects and contracts ensuring compliance.
• Engaging with stakeholders and clients to curate and optimise design briefs
• Developing compressive scope-of-work and contract documents for deliverables for the projects including negotiation with consulting firms, commissioning managers, suppliers, and sub-contractors as where necessary.
• Developing design delivery schedules and documentation to include, design and BIM (Building information Modelling) delivery, management and execution plans.
• Providing technical support and governance during construction and commissioning /testing phase through to handover. Manage, co-ordinate and lead the design team's input and close out of RFI's, construction drawings reviews, technical submittals, commissioning and as installed documentation.
• Supporting QS teams with management of tender process and preparing cost analysis & budgets.
• Undertaking design review and project delivery, reporting on monthly insights including risk, non-compliance and any associate mitigation measures.
  
  

What we're looking for

• Proven background in design management with experience working in live, critical working environments (eg. Data centres, laboratories etc)
• Full UK Driving License
• Relevant degree level qualification in Engineering fields.
• CSC (Construction skills certification scheme) cardholder relevant to role.
